Hi Everyone,

On behalf of DC EcoWomen, I wanted to share an invitation to a free event coming up on Sept. 24 that I thought may be of interest to the circular community. Please see details and registration link below, and feel free to forward along!

Green Schoolyards: Doing More with America’s Two Million Acres of Public School Land

Saturday, September 24, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Garrison Elementary School grounds (outdoors - meet by front entrance on S St. NW)
1200 S Street NW, Washington, DC 20009 (Shaw-Howard University Metro, Green/Yellow Line)

As the start of the school year gets underway, come learn from a local expert about green schoolyards: nature-filled outdoor spaces that offer students, teachers, parents and community members places to play, learn, explore and grow. Priya Cook, director of the Children & Nature Network's Green Schoolyards for Healthy Communities initiative will talk briefly about the benefits, design and equity considerations of green schoolyards (first 20 minutes) followed by open play for children and open discussion for adults.

The event is open to anyone interested in the green schoolyard/healthy schools movement (parents and non-parents alike), and children of all ages are welcome. This will be a relaxed setting, and attendees are welcome to stay as long as they'd like.
