Hi Everyone,

I'm writing with a board opportunity, open to all who identify as women and are interested in cultivating the environmental community in the Washington, D.C. area! DC EcoWomen—the wonderful local branch of a national volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to building community and fostering the growth of environmentally-minded women—is recruiting new board members to serve on its Programs Committee. We’d love for some Circular Economy friends to join us!

This will be my third year serving on the Programs Committee – it’s been a valuable and gratifying experience connecting with all sorts of environmental groups around D.C. and bringing our members together for learning and fun.

Our committee's role is to brainstorm, organize and execute one to two events each month ranging from educational to social, active and experiential -- aiming for a variety of events to engage members of all different ages and interests. Examples of events that the Programs Committee has organized include an environmentally-themed book club, an art class led by local woman artists, guided walks and hikes, a plant-based cooking class, bike maintenance class, and much more! We're looking for committee members who have new and interesting ideas for ways to build community and connect members to each other and the environmental/sustainability space in D.C. We welcome committee members with event planning experience or simply the enthusiasm for and commitment to researching, planning and coordinating events.

A simple board application is available at https://forms.gle/R17DbPH8UxQQgim46 and will be open until August 8, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. The committee’s vice-chairs will review applications and be in touch to schedule interviews, aiming to extend offers by mid-August.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions! Please feel free to forward to anyone who may be interested.

Warm regards,
Benay Brotman
