Ihave tried to convert some, but vital lacks an effect device like the expander/unison tool in Serum.
also, remapping and reverb lfos which Serum patches make use of alot, do not exist in Vital yet.
Symbiosis creates two configuration files inside your AU bundle the first time it is launched: SYParameters.txt and SYFactoryPresets.txt. It will also create .aupreset files for all the VST programs in the initial startup bank. All these files are created directly under Contents/Resources/ in your bundle.
This file is a tab-separated table with parameter information. One line per parameter with an extra header line at the top. You may choose to exclude certain parameters from the AU version by simply removing the corresponding lines from this file.
[^1]: If changes to this parameter will automatically modify other parameters you need to suffix this column with +. This information is important for AU hosts.
[^2]: You may wish to edit this column as AU can handle longer parameter names than VST.
[^3]: VST parameter values are always between 0 and 1, but AU parameters have arbitrary range. The min and max values are used to scale and normalize the AU parameter range from/to the 0 and 1 range. For discrete parameters (those having -delimited lists in the display column) the min value must be 0 and the max value should be the count of discrete options minus one, e.g. 3 if there are four choices.
This file simply contains a list of factory preset files (one file name per row). You can edit this file to remove or add factory presets. Symbiosis expects to find the factory preset files under Contents/Resources/ (as always).
If you move (or delete) your Vital folder the next time you start it will ask where to install presets and you can select a different location. If you have your own presets you can move them into the new folder after doing that.
I can shove the loose presets into a subdir in that tree and that seems to make them available easily. Looks like the vitalbank is unpacked for use when imported anyway? So really only a distribution format not a storage format anyway?
You can import individual patches via the same menu, but this option appears to just load the patch into vital. It seems that you have to manually save the patch (if you want it). I use this method to audition individual patches I download. But I typically do what you describe, and copy the files into a folder.
Not currently. New presets you save will always go into that User bank by default. However, you can create your own top-level bank folder alongside all the others, and even put a _ in front of the name. (For example _Baphometrix)
I reported this early on before the forums and Matt said he may try to fix the issue. As mentioned it is possible to create your own custom folder for presets, wavetables, and LFO shapes but any time you save a patch even if your custom folder has focus in the browser it will save it in to the User folder.
What I do if software forces paths is to use aliases. I move the folder to where I want it and then replace it in the path with the alias to the new folder. That works flawlessly on other synths so it should work here as well I think. The reason is that I want these things on my Google Drive so that I can use them across computers.
Thank you for that suggestion! I will try that in the meantime. I also know of a way to create a file that directs a program to another location. I did that for ProTools but I cannot find the article that instructed me on how to do that. Anybody know?
I am afraid this does not work with Vital. I tried it, but the synth does not accept the alias and does not show the user folder. When you save something it seems to work except it does not actually save it, it disappears and is nowhere to be found. Not sure how to enable working with own presets then. Maybe by moving the whole preset directory? I will explore the options and see if anything works.
The export bank is the feature you are looking for. However the presets you are looking for need to sit in the User folder of your library. Then you can select the export presets from the options menu (three lines right to the preset name) and can individually select patches to get compiled into a new bank. The bank file is a new file format .vitalbank.
I did a deep investigation looking for as many free Vital Presets as I could find. As a result I made a blog post featuring over 4,000 Free Presets. Several free banks that have been posted here in the forum are listed as well.

I was trying to make some acid sounds with vital. As my knowledge in sound synthesis is not to deep i decided to watch some serum tutorial first. I Found one for acid sound with a preset for serum to download.
First I was quite happy how it sounded and created a few presets, but after a while i felt like this dont sound like acid at all. Then i decided to stop it and that it is not possible for me at the moment to make vital make really sound like acid.
Then i read your thread, loaded peters preset. When i checked peters presets i remember about my old presets. Hearing them after a while they sounded not so bad at all. So i try to post them, dont kow if i allready have rights to do this.
I already posted about this once but the issue is still unresolved. On my old pc vital basically never saved preset names but kept the sound. Even if I used a preset that was already saved separately with a name, after closing the project it still showed it as init preset but it worked otherwise. However if I try to bring any of these projects over to a new pc it opens them as the actual init preset which makes all my projects unusable that had vital in them. It also starts with this message when opening them up on the new pc. And again this happens with every project without exception, and only happens to vital. Is there ANY solution to this?
Uploading the presets is pointless I can open presets in vital. The problem is that vital doesnt save its parameters/used presets properly in projects and for some reason FL studio is also not saving that information. I could save every single vital patch in every project, load the newly saved presets into the vital instances on the new pc and then save them there but with like 100 projects with up to 10 or more instances of vital each this quickly becomes unsustainable, especially that automation would have to be set up again for every single parameter for every single patch in every single project.
