"Can't locate object method "png" via package "GD::Image" at gddiag line 209."

I used to use circus on a Windows computer and recently had to switch to a Mac, and while I've been redownloading circos I've ran into a lot of issues. At first, GD and GD::Polyline just wouldn't seem to install, but eventually I got them. But now, I keep getting the error "Can't locate object method "png" via package "GD::Image" at gddiag line 209" when I type in "perl gddiag" - I've been scouring the internet for weeks trying to figure out why GD does not support png but can't seem to find a solution. I am an undergraduate college student who uses circos for genome lab research and don't have much experience with developer tools and this sphere of computer science. Any help would be appreciated, as I've been stuck on this for weeks.
