The San Diego Superior Court's Traffic and Minor Offense Division has jurisdiction over Vehicle Code violations, some local municipal ordinances, infractions, and minor misdemeanors. These offenses may include Fish and Game, Animal Control and transit violations (e.g. San Diego Trolley violations).

If you received a citation/ticket, you may receive a reminder notice from the court in the mail. This may be your first contact with the Traffic Court process. Most questions will be answered by information provided on the notice. Find out what to do if you have not received your reminder notice.

If your appearance in court is required, your reminder notice will say, "You must appear in court on or before your appearance date." An appointment is required to appear in court. Bail is not required to appear in court.

Do not disregard your ticket if you do not receive your reminder notice in the mail. You must appear at the courthouse or settle your case by mail, over the phone, or online by the appearance date, whether or not you receive the reminder notice. Read the back of your traffic ticket for additional information.

Failure to resolve your traffic/minor offense ticket by the due date (or appear-by date) may result in the issuance of a warrant, new charges, or the imposition of a $100 civil assessment penalty added to the original bail pursuant to Penal Code 1214.1, and referral to a collection agency. In addition, you may be subject to wage garnishments, tax refund intercept, and bank levies through the Franchise Tax Board Court Ordered Debt Collection Program (see Cases in Collection).

The Traffic Commission is an advisory board established to coordinate traffic activities, to carry on educational activities in traffic matters, to supervise the preparation and publication of traffic reports, to receive complaints having to do with traffic matters, and to recommend to the common council and to appropriate city officials ways and means for improving traffic conditions and the administration and enforcement of traffic regulations.

The fourth Wednesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Some meetings may be cancelled due to lack of business items at least one week prior to a scheduled meeting. A list of cancelled meetings are listed below.

To allow for sufficient time for your citation to be filed with court, please wait at least 3 weeks (21 days) from the time you receive a ticket before contacting the court to make sure that your ticket is available in the court's system.

If you do not receive a notice from the court 1 week prior to the Pay or Appear date listed on your citation, check the self-service traffic payment system or contact the court 707-299-1160 for the options available to resolve your citation.

If you need additional time to pay your ticket, payment plans are available through Linebarger, Attorneys at Law. Payment arrangements must be made prior to your due date to avoid further consequences. Come to the traffic front counter located at 1111 Third St. in Napa to request a referral to setup a payment plan through Linebarger, Attorneys at Law.

If you are eligible to attend traffic school, the fines for your ticket and the traffic school fee must be paid up front. Upon payment, the Court will provide a date on which the traffic school completion is due. When you choose and enroll in a traffic school, there will also be a fee for the course. If you fail to attend the traffic school, or if you do not successfully complete the course, your fine and administrative fee will be forfeited and a conviction will be reported to the DMV.

If one or more of the violations you received are for correctable offenses, your fine may be reduced if you choose to provide proof of correction. The Proof of Correction fee is $25.00 per correction.

If you would like to contest your traffic ticket, you can request a trial to do so. You must ask for a trial before the due date on the notice you received from the court. There are two types of trials that may be available to you:

Refer to the back of the notice you received from the court, or contact us by calling 707-299-1160 to determine if your citation is eligible to be contested in writing. Payment must be made at the time you request a Trial by Written Declaration.

Pursuant to PC1214.1 a civil assessment of up to $100 may be imposed for failure to appear in court or failing to pay required fines. Contact the court at 707-299-1160 for more information on how to request a civil assessment be vacated or reduced.

Welcome to the Superior Court of California County of Merced, Traffic Division. The Merced Traffic Division has jurisdiction over vehicle code violations, some local municipal ordinances, infractions, and minor misdemeanors.

The Merced Traffic Division is responsible for filing citations from various law enforcement agencies in Merced County. If you have received a citation in Merced County you can pay your ticket online, sign-up for traffic school, or contact the Merced Superior Court Traffic Division located at the bottom of your citation for assistance.

If you received a Notice to Appear from Merced Superior Court, this is a reminder notice to you to appear or pay your citation. The notice also provides you with several options on how to take care of your citation.

Payments can be made in person at the Merced Superior Court's Traffic Division located at 720 West 20th Street, Merced, CA 95340 or at the Merced Court's Los Banos Division located at 1159 G Street, Los Banos, CA 93635.

You may pay your Traffic citation online. Payments are accepted online with a credit or debit card that have a Visa or Mastercard logo. You also have the option to pay with your checking account information. There is an additional processing fee that will be added to your credit card. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the convenience of your own home.

If you have a financial hardship and can show that you are unable to pay the full amount of a fine for any infraction offense (including traffic offenses), you may ask the Court to consider your ability to pay in setting the total amount due online or in-person at any point before your fines and fees are fully paid.

The MyCitations online tool allows you to enter a plea and make an ability to pay request on eligible infractions. In addition to requesting a reduction, you can request a payment plan, more time to pay, or ask to complete community service in lieu of paying fines and fees.

You may appear in court as a walk-in. If your citation says to appear at the Merced Traffic Division located on 720 West 20th Street, the available walk-in dates are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday mornings between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and Thursday afternoons between 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m.

If your citation says to appear at the Los Banos Traffic Division located on 1159 G Street, the available walk-in dates are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. We do not accept walk-ins on Wednesdays.

A person who holds a class A, class B or commercial class C driver's license may request to attend TVS if the person was operating a vehicle requiring only a class C or class M license (non-commercial vehicle). The Court may not order that the record of conviction be kept confidential. However, the conviction shall not contain a violation point count. A commercially licensed driver operating a commercial vehicle is prohibited from attending TVS.

Notice: If you are eligible and decide not to attend TVS your automobile insurance may be adversely affected. One conviction in any 18-month period will be held confidential and not show on your driving record if you complete a TVS program (non-commercially licensed driver only).

Once your request has been authorized you will be provided a list of approved traffic schools and a completion due date. You may only attend traffic violator schools approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. To locate more information about the schools approved by DMV select the link below:

Proof of correction of most mechanical and equipment violations can be obtained by visiting a law enforcement agency. Correct the violation and have a Law Enforcement Officer complete the Certificate of Correction that is located on the back side of your citation.

If you were cited for an expired vehicle registration, have a DMV agent or Law Enforcement Officer sign your citation to verify the correction was made. Submit a copy of your proof of registration and/or the signed citation to the Court with the $25 Proof of Correction fee.
