An avatar is a concept in Hinduism that, means appearance or incarnation of a deity on Earth. Hinduism states Lord Brahma as the creator of the universe. Lord Shiva is the destroyer while Lord Vishnu is the protector and preserver of the universe. His role is to restore the balance between good and evil. To maintain this balance, Lord Vishnu takes birth on Earth many times. He took various incarnations in certain yugas which include Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parshurama, Rama, Krishna and the last and most devastating is Kalki avatar. All avatars have appeared except Kalki, which will appear at the end of Kali Yuga. In order to restore cosmic order, he will descend on the Earth in Kalki avatar. Lord Kalki will eradicate evil and revive dharma, marking the end of Kali Yuga and the beginning of Satya Yuga.
The Hindu Purana also states he will be born on the 12th day after the full moon of Hindu month Baisakhi, just a few years ago the end of Kali age. The religious texts state that Kalki avatar of Lord Vishnu will appear in the home of the most eminent Brahmana of Sambhal village, the great soul Vishnuyashya. He will be marrying Padma of Sinhala, commonly known as Sri Lanka.
Puranas describe Lord Kalki as the avatar who rejuvenates existence. He ends the darkest and destructive period to remove Adharma. He is depicted riding on a beautiful white horse, Devdutta, with a fiery sword in His hand, removing the burden of the Earth.
According to Puranas, Kalki, also known as Kalkin or Karki is the upcoming and last avatar of Lord Vishnu. He will recycle time by ending the Kaliyug and re-initiating the Satya Yuga. He will be the one who will rejuvenate existence by ending the Adharma and ushering in the Satya Yuga. However, the predictions made about the Kalki avatar are inconsistent among the Puranic texts. For example, he is just an invisible force destroying evil in some texts, while an actual person who kills those who persecute others in other texts, and some texts portrayed him as someone leading an army of Naga warriors to eliminate Adharma from the world as per Kalki predictions. Furthermore, his story has been compared to the concepts of Messiah, Apocalypse, Frashokereti, and Maitreya in other religions.
The Shrimad Bhagwat Purana describes in detail the avatar of Lord Vishnu. In the second chapter of the 12th wing, there is a description of Lord Kalki. It is said that Lord Kalki will be born as a son in the house of Brahmin named Vishnuyasha at a place called Sambhal in the Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. He will destroy the sinners from the world by riding on a horse or vehicle named Devadatta and re-initiate Sat Yuga.

Kalki is the most awaited avatar of Lord Vishnu. This incarnation of Lord Vishnu will be in the last phase of Kali Yuga. When evil becomes the predominant reality of the world, Lord Vishnu will come in the avatar of Kalki to start afresh Satyug and save humankind from all the evils.
I have not studied the extensive traditions that surround the Kalki Avatar, but I do understand that Krishna and Kalki are both listed in the Puranas as avatars of Vishnu, and that the Kalki avatar is thought to be the last such incarnation of Vishnu in this cycle of ages.
