Hi everyone!

I have never been camping in my life but I'm open to the experience. My husband and I would likely choose a stay at the cottages since we do not have any equipment and want to see if "roughing" it is really for us.

My main and ONLY concern is... are there lizards inside the cottages?

Anything else, I'm okay with... Bugs, mosquitoes, cold showers, damp clothes, etc etc etc. But I'm deathly afraid of lizards and might have to think twice about the cottage if they roam around inside. Silly, but true.

Anyone? :)

Thanks all...

I've only stayed in the cottages once, and I did tent camping in a bare site once.  Neither time did I have lizards inside.  I suppose it's theoretically possible that one could scoot inside an open door, but I never saw one.
For what it's worth - have you ever been to Florida?  The little lizards we're talking about are like the lizards in Florida - maybe 2-3" long.  They eat bugs and have never creeped me out, but that's me.
I really don't think you need to worry about a lizard inside....
Happy planning!

Hi Monica,
The most common lizard you'll see in STJ. is the gecko (you know, like the commercial only they don't talk) They range in size from about 1-3 inches not including the tail, which will detach if you grab it. They are completely harmless - have no teeth. Locals consider them good luck and want them in their homes as they eat mosquitoes and other disease carrying insects. I have stayed in CBC many times and sometimes shared a cabin  (or a shower) with the geckos. They are actually kind of cute and nothing to be afraid of.
Just don't want you to have a bad experience if you have a problem with them.
