NEW Virtual SAT Prep Course!
Hello Parents and Students!
Are you planning on taking the August SAT Exam or want a head start on prepping for the exam? Look no further! We are now offering a virtual SAT Prep Course this summer! It is only available Session 2: 7/24 – 8/11 from 9am-12pm.
If you haven’t heard already, The College Board will be introducing the digital SAT March 2024 and will be providing practice to both the digital and paper format of the exam. APLUS Education is at the forefront of this change and are here to provide you with the most up-to-date practice! Take advantage of our SAT prep program this summer!

This year, we are excited to continue classes in person! We are offering two 3-week sessions with a variety of classes in both the AM and PM.
Let’s address Summer Learning Loss or “Summer Slide”:
Here are a couple of significant statistics to take into consideration:
- According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the average student loses 17-34% of the prior year’s learnings over the summer.
- A report from NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association) suggests without summer reading, students will only retain about 70% of their progress compared to a normal year, and math retention could regress half a year to a full year.
APLUS is committed more than ever to helping your student succeed and avoid summer learning loss. The combination of our small classes, experienced and dedicated instructors, as well as rigorous curricula helps students maximize their potential and truly reignite their love of learning, which will carry them through their academic careers. We are offering a wide-variety of Math and Critical Reading/Writing Classes in the AM, along with various Skill-Based Courses in the PM!

Virginia Debate Academy
2023 SUMMER CLASSES OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!
Virginia Debate Academy is excited to open registration for our summer debate camp!
Camp Location: 3460 Centreville Road, Chantilly, VA 20151
Located in Chantilly, Va, our camps teach students research, critical thinking, public speaking, case construction, and other techniques necessary to excel in competitive debate and public speaking. VDA’s low teacher-student ratio provides students ample time and resources to improve their craft and find their voice!
Introduction to Competitive Debate
July 10 – July 14
9 AM – 4 PM
Students with 0-1 years of debate experience
Students will participate in lectures, games, workshops, and debates to learn case construction, rebuttal, framework, and crossfire techniques. Debaters will research unique and challenging topics that are debated on the competitive circuit. High performing students are welcomed to take the advanced course after completing this class.

Advanced Debate Course
July 17- July 21
9 AM – 4 PM
Students with prior debate or camp experience
Seasoned debaters will participate in Socratic seminars, workshops, and debates to hone their research, speaking, and debate capabilities. Our unique curriculum—covering traditional and progressive styles—will provide debaters with the critical thinking skills, research ability, and institutional knowledge to excel in local, state, and national circuit.

Special Topics in Debate, Online Class

All Students
Debaters will participate in sessions each Saturday during August, which will cover advanced topics. They will learn additional research and critical thinking skills, such as research design and heuristic biases in research and argumentation. Our sessions will also have deep dives into popular topic areas, like international relations and economics. The course is taught by VDA directors, based on their previous work with national circuit debaters and undergraduate students.

Summer 2023 Chess Day Camps
For students rising into grades 2 – 9
Our Summer Chess Day Camps consist of chess instruction and play, as well as recreational activities. Camp starts at 9:00am ET and ends at 3:00pm ET. Aftercare (until 5:00pm ET) is available for an added fee. Campers will need to bring/pack a bag lunch each day.
Since 1992, we have been providing challenging instruction and making chess fun for students. Our nationally certified chess teachers are experienced with all levels of ability. Camp will be challenging and interesting for all and our focus is on improving chess skills through practice and lessons. The teachers place more emphasis on learning than on winning. Good sportsmanship is the key to having fun.
Thousands of students have participated in our camps, with many enjoying camp so much that they return year after year and dozens continue to play at a master level. Our students have won more than a dozen national championships, hundreds have earned academic college scholarships, and more than 20 have become national masters.
There will be about one teacher per ten students and enrollment is capped at 30 campers total for each week. Depending on the week and camp location, students rising into grades 2-7 or grades 3-9 are welcome. We currently have five weeks of camp available at different venues (and hope to add two more weeks if possible):
Week #1: June 26 – June 30 in McLean, VA
Week #3: July 10 – July 14 in McLean, VA
Week #4: July 17 – July 21 in Fairfax, VA
Week #5: July 24 – July 28 in Vienna, VA

Public Speaking Skills will help your students in communication, classroom participation and project presentations. The class helps students become:

Public Speaking Class Students will be equipped to:
