Support Program Supervisor, Administration Assistant and Productions
Office Assistant Needed
A- Filmmakers Support Program Supervisor
The incumbent will report to the Capacity Building Department Manager
and will work on supporting filmmakers in identifying programs, helping
them develop their skills and talents, as well as arranging for
activities and creating an environment promoting filmmaking.
The tasks will include:
Plan and implement programs that support filmmakers at different
levels, to practice and develop their projects.
Follow up and track filmmakers’ achievements and development.
Provide filmmakers with advice regarding filmmaking opportunity.
Develop a filmmaker community within the Film House through activities
such as: filmmakers private screenings, lectures and various creative
events that are dedicated to create a vibrant filmmaking community to
promote the art of storytelling in different medium.
Support, guide and direct filmmakers on available opportunities that
could develop their skills and projects, in terms of funds, training,
on job training, festivals etc.
Supervise the Film House library content, in terms of developing the
library materials.
Liaise with regional and local institution or individuals that can be
partners and part of the activities and events in Jordan.
Coordinate and cooperate with all other departments/programs at RFC.
Supervise interns and trainers responsible for providing
assistance/services in programs/projects managed by the incumbent.
Qualifications:
- BA in Business administration, or any field related to
filmmaking
- Experience in filmmaking and film industry is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills locally and internationally
- Ability to manage and support groups and events
- Excellent command in Arabic and English
- Excellent computer literacy, communication and organization
skills
B. Production Office Assistant:
The RFC’s Production Services Department (PSD) is looking for a
temporary Production Office/ Location Assistant for a period of one to
two months.
The tasks will include:
Handling paperwork pertaining to PSD including official letters,
accounting papers, and other forms.
Organizing and sorting the Location database.
Keeping up to date files & office administrative work.
Maintaining office inventory.
Performing other duties as required by the Manager.
The applicant must be fluent in English and Arabic (spoken and
written), extremely organized and hard working, as well as capable of
multi tasking.
C. Administrative Assistant
The incumbent will report to the Administration and HR Manager.
The tasks will include:
Screening telephone calls, enquiries and requests and
handling/directing them efficiently;
Dealing with incoming email, faxes and mail;
Responsible for distributing circulars, invitations and other documents
to RFC Staff.
Responsible for arranging and following-up on the distribution of
greeting cards
Ordering Business Cards
Responsible for mail and packages sent by Aramex, Fed Ex and other
courier.
Responsible for maintaining, monitoring and printing attendance records.
Responsible for maintain electronic records for outgoing, as well as
filing paper documents of incoming and outgoing mail.
Responsible for all bookings of the meeting room.
Responsible of maintaining electronic records of RFC Vehicle as well as
filing all relevant documents.
Dealing with the insurance company.
Responsible for maintaining signature books and reference books.
Greeting and welcoming visitors and direct them to the appropriate
individuals;
Drafting correspondence/letters as appropriate;
Booking with hotels, car rentals companies and restaurants, provide
assistance in all related logistics when required;
Maintain all office files and records whether electronic or in paper;
Arranging for and following-up on all requests and office supplies,
stationery, and any other related items.
Qualifications:
- BA in Business Administration, Languages, or any related
field.
- Strong communication skills, organized and detail-oriented.
- Fluent in both Arabic and English, written and spoken.
- Excellent computer skills.

2. Call for Application: Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab
The Royal Film Commission - Jordan, in consultation with the Sundance
Institute, welcome applications to the 7th round of Rawi Screenwriters’
Lab. The Lab will take place this fall, October 30th– November 3rd
2011, and will be held in Wadi Feynan - Jordan.
Rawi Screenwriters’ Lab is designed for Arab emerging and independent
screenwriters working on their first or second narrative feature
screenplay. It provides them with the opportunity to develop their
screenplays under the guidance of veteran screenwriters (Creative
Advisors), who will have one-on-one intensive story sessions and
conversations with the participants about their projects, to embrace
their vision and help them find the most compelling way to tell their
stories.

3. Call for Applications: “Harrer- Harrer Workshop”
The Doha Film Institute in collaboration with the Royal Film
Commission– Jordan is calling for applications for the Doha Film
Institute “Harrer- Harrer Workshop”. The workshop will be held in Amman
from 29 April - 5 May 2011.
Through the story-telling workshop, participants will work together to
tell stories about the recent upheaval in their home cities. They will
also chronicle the developments by putting the audiences in the shoes
of fictional characters. The goal will be to capture the essence of
those developments and communicate human emotions through characters.
During the course of the workshop, participants will:
· Learn and discuss storytelling techniques and character
development
· Work together to create compelling stories and convert them
into screenplays
· Produce one-minute film projects based on their screenplays
(rehearse-shoot-edit)
· Act and crew in each other’s films
The films will be uploaded and distributed on a web platform and become
part of an international exhibition that will be launched in the 2011
Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
The workshop will be in English and Arabic.

4. Call for entries: UNRWA Film Competition For Young Palestinian
Refugees
Are you a young Palestinian refugee? Do you have an idea for a short
film? “My world” is the theme for this year’s UNRWA short film
competition to mark World Refugee Day. So if you are a young (under 26)
Palestinian refugee, this is your chance to express your world on the
big screen. UNRWA in partnership with the network of French Cultural
Centre and Shashat invite you to submit your film. The film must
reflect the theme “My world” in an original and creative way and be
between one to five minutes long.
The Prizes:
First prize: US$1,200
Second prize: US$800
Third prize: US$400
Honorable mentions: US$150
All prize-winning films will be screened at an event to mark World
Refugee Day, along with the honorable mentions.

5. Al Jazeera Children’s Channel: Children Needed to Participate in a
TV game show
Al Jazeera Children’s Channel is looking for adventurous boys and girls
from all over the Arab World aged 14 and 15 to take part in an exciting
television game show. If you would like to take part in this experiment

Rules for participation:
The filming will take place in Jordan over three consecutive days in
June, July or August.
One of the child’s parents/guardians must accompany them during the
audition and filming period.
The producer will cover the costs for the chosen participants, and one
parent/guardian to attend the filming of the game show.
6. Call for entries: Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2011
The Abu Dhabi Film Festival is calling for entries for its fifth
edition. The festival was established in 2007, with the aim of helping
create a vibrant film culture throughout the region. The festival
presents works by Arab filmmakers in competition alongside those by
major talents of world cinema.
Rules for application:
· Narrative feature films must have a running time of 60
minutes or more. Documentary feature films must have a running time of
52 minutes or more. Short films must not have a running time more than
35 minutes.
· All entries must be submitted along with an entry form and a
DVD of the film to the festival mailing address found below.
· Submissions must include the following materials:
- Two multi-zone or region-free DVD copies of the film with
English subtitles. Each DVD must be clearly marked with the film’s
title, director’s name, year and country of production and running time.
- Press materials including production credit list, synopsis
in English, director’s biography and filmography.
- A signed copy of the completed entry form.
· Work-in-Progress projects may be submitted but must be
identified as such on the entry form and the DVD. A final version of
the film must be submitted to the Festival by August 15, 2011.
· An English-subtitled screening copy must be provided for all
films not in English.
· An English dialogue list is required for all films, even
those in English, in order to facilitate the Festival’s preparation of
electronic subtitles in Arabic.
· A completed film information form and list of materials.
· A DVD copy of the final version of the film for the
Festival’s archives.
· Films may not have been publicly exhibited in the Gulf region
prior to the Festival’s 2011 edition.
· Films that have been submitted to prior editions of the
Festival will not be considered unless they have been altered
significantly. The Festival reserves the right not to consider any
previously submitted film.

7. Call for applications: Robert McKee's Story Seminar
The Cineuropa.org, a European Cinema Portal Site dedicated to European
cinema and the
film industry as a whole is calling for applications for the Robert
McKee’s Story Seminar which will be held from the 7- 10 June 2011 in
Paris. The seminar is ideal for Screenwriters, TV Writers, Novelists,
Playwrights, Filmmakers, Directors, Producers, Documentary Makers and
Actors.
Information about the seminar:
· The seminar will run for four stimulating and
information-packed days with Robert McKee as he reveals the essential
elements of story design that help separate great stories from the rest
of the pack.
· Mckee will use examples from over 100 films, in addition to
television shows and novels, and demonstrate why structure and story
design are about form and principles, not formulas and rules.
· Participants will learn details about the Art of Story,
whether they are writing for the page, stage, or screen. Using examples
from over 200 films, novels, TV episodes, and plays, Mr. McKee will
discuss the mysteries of Story Structure, and the relationship between
Story Design and Character.
· On the last day of the Story Seminar, McKee will present his
famous six-hour scene-by-scene and analysis of the story masterpiece
"Casablanca".
· Each four-day Story event runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday and
Sunday, beginning at 9:30am and closing at 7:00pm each day.
· The master class is in English, with a simultaneous
translation in French.

8. Call for entries: Documentary Works In Progress
Alwan for the Arts is calling for entries for its “Documentary Works in
Progress Festival” and is seeking new medium or feature length (50 -120
minutes running time) documentaries in progress by filmmakers of South
Asian and Arab descent OR films about those regions and their diasporas
by filmmakers of all backgrounds.
Rules for submissions:
· Through the festival filmmakers will have the opportunity not
only to publicize and showcase their unfinished documentary to
potential sponsors, but receive feedback from Alwan's artistically and
culturally aware audience.
· The first of these screenings will take place in Summer 2011.
· Selected documentary in progress will receive a $500 prize
towards completion!
