Dear Friends,
Greetings from Children's Film Society, India! I am delighted to inform you about the theatrical release of our award winning children's feature "GATTU" on 20th July 2012 across India! Gattu is directed by Rajan Khosa and produced by Children's Film Society India (CFSI).
CFSI is an autonomous body under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, committed to producing & exhibiting high quality films that are both entertaining and enriching for children. CFSI has made over 250 films till date, many of which are delightful, and are awarded nationally and internationally.
While making films for children is itself a challenge, bringing them to theatres is even more so! GATTU is the first CFSI film in 57 years and also one among very few children's films that will get a theatrical release. Rajshri Productions, a household name for wholesome family films, is releasing GATTU in cinemas all over India.
Gattu has won several international awards including one at the prestigious Berlin International Festival. In India too, at special previews of the film, the response has been overwhelming. Children have loved the film since it is a lot of fun, and teachers/ educationists/ counsellors and all those who work with children have found it useful to encourage discussions on various issues that surround us in our everyday lives.
GATTU is about an illiterate street child who is determined to defeat the mysterious Kali – the King of Kites. In order to do so, he sneaks into the local school as a student. Soon he makes some wonderful friends and falls in love with the life he has started to impersonate. The film is essentially a heart-warming tale about an underdog who is determined to realise his dream, something that all kids & adults would relate to.
As parents and teachers we are usually worried about the content that is screened in theatres and television. GATTU promises you 75 minutes of non-violent, meaningful and entertaining cinema for your children. Please find enclosed more information on the film including awards & appreciation from film festivals and filmmakers, as well as an article written by Anju Musafir, Principal of Mahatma Gandhi International School.
Your support is very important to encourage independent cinema as well as clean and wholesome cinema for children. You will also be happy to know that GATTU is TAX-FREE in many statesmaking the film tickets affordable for most of us. The film is releasing in 30 cities: Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Rajkot, Kolkata, Siliguri, Nagpur, Raipur, Indore, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Dehradun, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bhatinda, Hyderabad, Vizag, Bangalore.
