Dear Friend,

Happily inform you that the wonderful poems of our little butterfly, Remya Antony are now published as 'Shalabhaayanam'. The book was released on 24th January, 2010 at Trivandrum Press club by the famous Malayalam poet, Kureepuzha Sreekumar. The first copy was received by Dr T N Seema Teacher. An exhibition of paintings (The visual feast of Remya’s Poems by the students of Fine Arts College) was also conducted along with the book release.
A native of Aluva, Remya had to combat with a series of challenges that she confronted. The first in the line was in the form of polio; both her legs paralysed at a very young age. But the dreaded disease couldn’t cripple her undaunted mind. She had been an inmate of Polio Home since the age of four. Struggled throughout her life against disability and financial crisis, she managed to secure a job as Assistant Librarian in the Leela Kempinsky Hotel, Kovalam. She is now undergoing treatment for tongue cancer in the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.
‘Shalabhaayanam’ is the result of sincere efforts and team work of hundreds who are known and unknown to our little poetess. Special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and all who devote their time and effort to treat Remya at the Regional Cancer centre (Tvpm), to all humanitarians who have supported and pacified Remya through different means, Kerala Working Women’s Short Stay Home, (Vahuthakadu, Thiruvananthapuram), Kerala Mahila Samakhya Society (Vazhuthakadu, Thiruvananthapuram), All India Democratic Woman’s Association, Students of Fine Arts college (Thiruvananthapuram),
