apology for spam

Good morning, singers -

I hope you all enjoyed the Ohio Convention. I look forward to photos and reports.

Yesterday one of the moderators who manage this email group approved a new-subscriber who turned out to be a spammer. I apologize, we all thought the group settings would allow us to intercept spam before it went out to everyone.

We have deleted the messages from the group message archive and banned the member. But most likely the messages got to your mail server and you will see them in your inbox where you may delete them also.

Going forward, I believe we will take care not to approve new members whom we don't know. So if you know someone who wants to subscribe, you can suggest that they mention in their subscription that they are a Sacred Harp singer.

Really the best way to get on the list is to first come to a singing.  I will write down your email and add it that way.  We use the emails primarily to notify you of future singings, but also to notify you in case someone at the singing might have exposed you to covid.
