Bringing startup speed to enterprise development with JRuby on Rails

This talk will be focused on a case study of how we were able to bring JRuby on Rails into IPC, an independent SUBWAY® franchisee-owned and operated purchasing cooperative. We'll talk about a project called BIN Management, now used to produce loyalty cards at IPC. We'll look at why we chose JRuby on Rails over other options. We'll review Ruby and Rails briefly, and talk about how we were able to leverage the Java platform to overcome performance challenges. Finally, we'll show off ActiveAdmin, one of the key pieces we used to build BIN Management, by doing "application karaoke" and building an app on the spot.
