Five Winter 2008 Broomball Leagues
Co-ed (3), men’s, & women’s leagues for ages 18 and older
(If under 18, please contact the CBA and we’ll see what we can work out.)
The Cincinnati Broomball Association (CBA), a non-profit volunteer organization, coordinates various non-checking broomball leagues at the Cincinnati Gardens Annex. Broomball is played on ice with rules similar to hockey, though players wear shoes & different equipment is used (such as a ball, not a puck). It’s a unique sport, but skills acquired in other sports quickly translate. You must wear a helmet. Helmets & sticks are available, but please bring any helmets you have to ensure enough. We recommend bringing shin guards, kneepads & gloves, as only a few are at the rink to borrow. Visit www.cincinnatibroomball.org for more information.
Games start between approximately 3 PM & 8 PM on Sundays beginning January 13, with no games on Superbowl Sunday. Arrive 20 minutes early. Each game has a 45-minute time slot to play two 18-minute halves (running time). You may play in as many leagues as you’d like (i.e., up to four teams), but on
only one team per league. To sign up, make out a check to “CBA” for the total fee(s); write a note explaining the league(s) you want to play in, any teammates you want to play with (or a roster if signing up a whole team), and any other useful information; & mail to:
Kevin / CBA
2783 Losantiridge Avenue
Cincinnati, Ohio 45213
If Kevin receives your check by January 3, you’ll be in the league(s) [assuming there is enough interest to have each league, which we don’t expect to be a problem]. After that, we’ll do our best, returning your check if we can’t fit you
in.
INTRODUCTORY CO-ED LEAGUE (6 games): Meant for players with little or no experience, teams may have a few experienced players to help coach. Games will generally be in the earlier time slots. For $50 per person, you can sign up individually or as a group. Each team will have 10 to 12 players, likely 3-4 women & 6-8 men. If you’d like to sign up an entire team, the cost is $500 regardless of your roster size. If you’d
like to sign up an entire team but need a few players, we’ll help fill your roster (please send us an email at con...@cincinnatibroomball.org), but you must still pay the full $500 by the deadline.
INTERMEDIATE CO-ED LEAGUE (6 games): Meant for teams with an average of “some” experience, the structure, prices, etc. are the same as Introductory Co-ed. Intermediate teams will likely be scheduled
for some “cross-over” games against introductory and advanced teams.
ADVANCED CO-ED LEAGUE (8 games): You know who you are. The cost will be $740 per team. Captains, please get all of your players’ money together before your first game. Games will generally be in the middle and later time slots.
MEN’S LEAGUE (4 games): Open to anyone, the cost is $42 per person (for which we’ll put about 9 players on a team), or $375 per team (and you set your own roster). All games will be at 8 PM, likely every other Sunday.
WOMEN’S LEAGUE (4 games): Open to all women, the cost is $37 per person (for which we’ll put about 9 players on a team), or $335 per team (and you set your own roster). Games will likely start between 5 PM and 7 PM every other
Sunday.
