HDMI -> LVDS or VGA -> LVDS

To whom it was that turned me on to LVDS last night, thanks.   I don't remember your name.  (I should have said it one more time )   As I said, I have 3 laptop displays that I'd love to dedicate to the Raspberry Pi.

It turns out that there are a few links on it:

• A nice demo of it working with a Capacitive Touch Screen to make a Raspberry Pi Kiosk along with a how-to page.
  
• A nice small converter shown in the demo for $34.99  and if you want to get the touch screen too, $134
• Good old eBay post of an HDMI/VGA/DVI -> LVDS converter for $29.99 + $10 shipping  ($40)
  
• Another site which offers better matching of the board to your requirements.

Once again, thanks for the tip it was very helpful.   Once I get it up and running I'll send in a pic.

I went to order the $34.99 converter...and they wanted $55 shipping.  WTF?  Trying to find alternative shipping.

I believe that was me, and thanks for posting all this! Considering how often we have dead-laptops-with-probably-okay-LCDs around the Hive, combined with Raspberry Pis that could use screens, this could prove useful. Let us know how it goes.

Were you looking at Chalkboard Electronics?  Change your shipping method to standard air - it will be $17.20 instead of $55.

I was about to get rid of a handful of laptops that belong to the Hive on Craigslist.  Do you guys want the screens off them?  They're older laptops.
