First, I have to fess up that I live in Cherry Hill, NJ and not
Cincinnati. However I am proud to say I was born in Cincinnati and lived
there until I received my RN from Good Samaritan Hospital . It was my
decision to become an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corp that led me from the
Queen City, never to return again - I almost made it back 30 yrs ago
(when I decided I would return home and get my bachelor's degree at UC)
but the love of my life piped up and said,"How can I marry you if you're
in Cincinnati?"
Enough of my confession. My immediate need, being new to the Gluten
Free world, is treatment for my Cincinnati Chili withdraw!! For years my
sister has sent me packets of the chili mix to satisfy the cravings of
my husband ( an engineer grad of UC), myself and my two sons. I tried
emailing Gold Star (one of the packets is GS, the other is Cincinnati
Recipe), but got no response. I know you natives eat it fresh, but is
there any chance that through the grapevine you have ascertained the
assurances that the said packets are Gluten Free? The ingredients
listing looks OK, but I'd love some confirmation. I would be forever
indebted if someone has any information. I'm ready and willing to put my
4 way over Trader Joe's brown rice penne.

Martha,
Gold Star Chili has Wheat in it and therefore is NOT GF.  Skyline Chili is GF. It can be purchased in cans now which makes it easy to mail. There are 10 oz. and 16 oz. cans of  plain chili. Maybe somebody in Cincinnati could send you some in the mail if it isn't available in stores near you. Ask your supermarket if they can bring it in.

The Cincinnati Chili packets (the blue ones) are gluten free, as per my last
contact with the company. We not eat at Gold Star, since they use cracker
crumbs in their chili. I am unsure about the Gold Star packets and their gf
status.

I'll pass along my Gold Star packets to my Jersey friends (whom I've turned on to Cin. chili) who don't have gluten issues. They'll be thrilled.I am happy I happened upon this group. Gratefully,Martha

First of all you've resolved my guilt by the fact that you're a
Cincinnati expatriate also!
I'll give away my Gold Star packets - I have some Jersey friends who
will happily take them. I'm working on a trip home in July and will
leave room in my luggage to cart back a few cans. I knew they had cans
with spaghetti in it (they weren't very good as the spaghetti was soggy)
but did not know they had plain cans. Another subscriber to your group
told me the "Cincinnati Recipe" packet (dark blue in color) is gluten
free. She contacted the company.
I never imagined getting a response within minutes of my query. You
are an amazing group!
A Jersey friend who relocated to Cincinnati (husband's job) told me the
thing that struck her the most about Cin. was that," these people are
all so darned nice!!" It appears that even when they move to S.C they
stay that way! THANKS, Martha

That is what I use, too, the Cincinnati Chili in the blue packets.  My family likes it as much as the chili you get in the restaurant.
