Where do you find Dorsel's Pinhead oats?  I have looked in several stores in the oats and health food section and I can only find Bob's Red mill.

I am not an expert either, but I had been missing goetta myself about a year ago.... so I did a little research and found out that Dorsel's Pinhead Oats are now made by Wilsons' Corn Products, in Rochester Indiana; and as far as I can tell only mills corn products there, besides the oats... so no cross-contamination issues with wheat.
I have since made my own goetta from Dorsel's and have had no reaction.

I dont have an issue with oats or oat flour but a lot of people do.  There's a high chance oats could be contaminated because of how it's processed next to wheat in factories.  Oats themselves are gluten free, it just depends on how it's processed I guess.  A lot of people do get sick when they eat oats so I'm not advocating it for anyone.  I just know that nothing makes me feel better from a gluten reaction than a warm bowl of oatmeal!  There are certified gluten free oats made that you can get in health food stores.  I thought Goetta would have something else in it we can't have though?  I haven't eaten in since being diagnosed and went to Goetta fest thinking there was nothing there I could have.

OK, call me crazy, but I went to the Goetta fest last year and ate half of a piece and had no symptoms. My husband just made
home made Goetta in the crock pot and it's driving me nuts not to try it ! My GP said that it had never been proven that Oats are
one of the offending flours. True?  Thanks, Cath

I get my Dorsel Pinhead oats at Krogers. You might have to ask for help like I did to find them though.

I also get mine at Kroger in the regular oats section. They are in a white paper bag.

I have talked to 2 Gastro- Celiac Specialist - Oats are OK.
Goetta can be made with other brands. Steel cut Oats from Scottland and Ireland.
I have bought them at Wild Oats and Trader Joes.

Thank you all for responding, I will definitely ask for help at Kroger next time.  I had never thought of looking in the baking aisle for oats!
