Dear Indonesian Medical Students,
More than 1 in 4 deaths of children under five years of age are attributable to unhealthy environments (WHO 2018)—a statistic that will continue to rise as climate change magnifies environmental risk factors. As highlighted in the 2021 UNICEF publication "Healthy Environments for Healthy Children: Global Programme Framework," environmental degradation and climate change are global priorities for a safe and sustainable environment for all children. This issue is particularly important in Asia, with the second-highest death rate attributable to environmental factors after sub-Saharan Africa.
Please join UNICEF and Vital Strategies for a virtual discussion, "Addressing Climate and Environmental Risks to Child Health Using Children's Environmental Health Indicators," on June 22, 2022 (Wednesday), from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Bangkok time (GMT+7). Hear from speakers working on the Children's Environmental Health Indicators (CEHI) initiative piloted in China and Myanmar, aiming to help governments track, identify and prioritize climate and environmental health interventions for children.
Date: June 22, 2022 (Wednesday)
