I'm exploring the feasibility of adapting LogBook so as to bring
enhanced logging capabilities to the PureMVC framework - something more
native to the framework than simply handling developer-entered
statements. At this point PureMVC doesn't have any specific logging
enhancements though the forum there has occasional messages about how it
would be nice if the notification (events) traffic could be more easily
monitored.

If there happens to be a LB adept who is also interested in PureMVC, it
might make for very useful utility/extension.

thx

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the LogBook user group.

Personally, I have looked at PureMVC and it quite an interesting
project and would love to have LogBook integrated with the PureMVC
project. Please let me know what you are looking for and how I/we can
help.

Thankx much for the welcome - as to what I'm looking for ...nothing
less than a blinding flash of enlightenment that only a sudden,
comprehensive grasp of the 'big picture' can give. But I bet you were
looking for something more ...ummm....focused.

Therein lies the problem. I'm at the point in the PureMVC (and OO in
general) learning curve where I'm still using tracing/logging as an
exploratory tool first and foremost. I'm imagining that it would be
possible to create hooks between PureMVC's classes and a logging
engine to create a better view of the interaction between the
framework and user code.

I understand this gets more to introspection than logging and so it's
a bit outside LB's current featureset. There has been a fair bit of
activity at the PureMVC project around community constructed utilities
- logging and introspection is (imo) a glaring omission. It may be
that the lessons learned putting LB together can be applied to
something that addresses this particular need.

So, while my pay grade limits my vision of exactly what's needed, it's
clear Cliff is committed to providing the information needed by
utility developers to make the framework more accessible.

thx

Hi Steve,

I understand where you are coming from, and I think this feedback is
great for this project. As we start discussing features for LogBook
2.0, I think the introspection features are going to become a lot more
prominent. I am going to start a thread on the features and your
feedback here would be great. I know its something I would love to
integrate to make debugging complex applications easier.

Best,
