Is there a list of best-of levels for Super Mario Maker? I'd love to play some before the second game comes out. I'm fine with difficult levels but nothing incredibly difficult that'd take like an hour to beat. If anyone would like to submit their own levels, I'm also down for that.
On June 28, 2019, Nintendo released their latest mega-successful Nintendo Switch title, Super Mario Maker 2. The platformer, which was a major upgrade to its equally-successful Wii U predecessor, lifted a bunch from Super Mario 3D World, added an impressive single-player story mode, and seems to already be making a splash with the audience, becoming the best-selling game in Japan. One of the game's biggest selling points is that users can create their own levels, full of obstacles from the history of the Super Mario series, giving gamers from beginner levels to the most expert-y of experts a challenge (or a bunch of laughs).
Heard of the game and want to dive into the best Super Mario Maker 2 has to offer? Look no further. We've cultivated a list of the 10 best Super Mario Maker 2 user-created levels that will not only give you a great idea of the possibilities of the game but also show you the varying ways creators are expressing themselves with the title. Grab your Switch controller and log on.
One of the newest levels on this list finds intriguing ways to make an homage to dungeon-crawlers of the past like Rogue and Eye of the Beholder. It's creative, as they mix a number of mediums to pull off the throwback layout of those older titles. it's a totally different user layout than the side-scrolling you see throughout the game, and that's part of the fun.
As a kid, one of the most frustrating levels I'd ever played on the NES was the dam level from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I may have actually never beaten it if I'm being honest. Being timed, you had to disarm a bunch of things while avoiding random electricity and other things that could mess you up. Seeing this stage being recreated in Super Mario Maker 2 is frightening, but also a stroke of genius.
While I initially thought this level would be more about Mario and Yoshi, I appreciate the story weaved into this level. Mario having to rely on the Koopa to get him out of the obstacles in each area (and having to make sure the Koopa can press on to help him) is handled so perfectly, you almost wish levels like these were incorporated into more traditional Super Mario games.
This is one of those levels that does exactly what it says on the tin. You'll have to guide Mario to the end by hopping through a parallel universe to gain power-ups, keys, and more. It can get kind of confusing but is a level that can take a bit to master and unlock all of its secrets. It's also just beautifully laid out. A real standout of level design.
A level so beautiful that you wish they had this technology back in the '80s; it could've fit perfectly in the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES. This is one of those levels that, visually, feels like something you'd get as a part of the single-player campaign. It's a level that can trip you up, but also one that you'll feel rewarded for mastering.
Remember that Raiders of the Lost Ark scene where Indiana Jones is chased by that big ass boulder? That's basically this scene (sans Mario taking the Golden Idol). Mario's being chased by a cannon that's destroying everything in its wake, making this level a mad dash full of bombs, icicles, lava, and much more. It's a wild run, with all kinds of destruction and mayhem. This is one of those levels that'll take a bit to understand, but once you get it? It's a beautifully insane ride.
Hello!, I made some levels with some optionals paths: for 1 player or for 2 players or up (cooperative local), but i didnt have so much feedback , so if somebody will play them and leave some feedback i will be greatfull .
Ryukahr made a video talking about how Mario Maker 1 was technically beatable since no more levels could be uploaded, but since then the level bookmark site seems to have shut down. Is there any other way to find uncleared levels in MM1 or does the dream end here?
There's nothing better than discovering some of the best Super Mario Maker 2 custom levels, as they really show off the creativity of the community. We've gathered together some of our favorites for you to try out.
The first level will earn you enough coins to begin work on the Foundation. After financing the build will require you to complete levels to finish. This is represented by hammer icons. Each structure unlocks a new set of levels. Check out the cost of each structure and the levels they unlock.
I didn't realize Mario Maker 2 would be so difficult for my kids (ages 5 and 7). I don't want to return it as I suspect they will grow in to it but I am struggling to find levels they can play and beat. Sadly we don't seem to be able to filter the levels to find just the easy ones and I am finding it frustrating finding them levels to play.
Please do notice these levels are made for kids that dont even know that you can hold the run button, what a slope is, or how the vines work.Even though the levels are short, young kids can still somehow take a while to complete them.
Yes I know the audience of hard levels has always been a small portion of the players base, but currently in MM2, hard levels are only played when people search specifically for that particular level(s) and anywhere else when your level show up will just be ignored/boo'ed, for those reasons:
In 100 Mario Challenge you have on average around 17 attempts on a Super Expert level, and 6-7 attempts for an Expert Level. And this is without counting the possible extra lives (From 1 Ups or Coins) and definitely there will be easier levels that the player will finish quick, so they can even use 20-30 lives on a level.
I usually make mediocre to hard level (Very rarely my levels goes below 1% clear-rate), but currently I'm discouraged to make those levels, as no one really want to play them, if some got my level they will give it 1-2 attempts and move on, or worst Boo the level (Which happens quite often when they show up in Endless). So now whenever I'm making a level I always worry that the player might not be able to one shot the level, or this section might take more than one try to do, so I always try to aim for a Normal difficulty level.
What I'm trying to say that because of how Mario Maker 2 works currently, the difficulty threshold of levels people avoid playing has become higher, even a 5% clear-rate level would be avoided by players because of the system, which can easily be solved by introducing different game modes to find levels, like the 100 Mario Challenge.
It's not about my levels aren't played or about designing, I thank you all who offered to play them or to seek for communities that would appreciate them, this wasn't my point, I know you guys you would, It just from the game itself the appeal of these levels has been discouraged by the system.
I'm getting pretty good at Mario Maker 2 so I'm starting to play more Endless on Expert and Super Expert. I keep getting stuck on some levels because the Kaizo tricks are really insane to pull off. Does anyone know of any good levels where I can practice and learn Kaizo tricks?
Super Mario Maker 2 was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019 and is a sequel to the Wii U game that was released back in 2015. This game allows fans of the Mario franchise to build their own levels, play through other people's levels, and even play through the game's story mode.
Being able to build your own levels is pretty much a dream come true for fans of the Mario franchise and this game allows fans to do so in such a cool way. This game even allows players to share their levels and see how other players around the world like them!
One super cool aspect of Super Mario Maker 2 is the fact that the game allows players to build levels in the style of any Mario game that they want. Unfortunately, you cannot combine elements from different styles of Mario game and if you want to switch between them while building, it will clear your progress completely.
Even though a lot of the focus of Super Mario Maker 2 is on building levels and playing levels that other people have built. When Ninetndo announced the game, the trailers all had a heavy focus on the building aspect and while that's definitely fun, there are reasons not to ignore story mode.
Along with just being a fun break from playing user-created levels, playing through Super Mario Maker 2's story mode is a helpful way for players to unlock different power-ups. Two different Mario transformations can only be unlocked through story mode, so don't forget to try it out!
Although saying to play some levels may seem like an unusual tip to give someone that wants to build their skills as a level builder in Super Mario Maker 2, it's actually one that's surprisingly helpful!
Playing through other people's levels is a great way to get inspiration for your own levels! Even though the game definitely encourages creativity and encourages players to think outside the box and build levels of their own, it's fun to play other people's levels to get ideas for your own and see creative ways that people have used the various tools in the game.
Clear Conditions are something that can be set in the level builder and are things that the players have to do before the level is considered complete. There are a variety of different Clear Conditions that a level maker can set, but only one can be set for each level.
This stops people from making levels that are absolutely not possible to get through. While some of the levels that people make in this game are definitely a challenge, you have to make sure that you're able to make it to the end of the level you made before you can share it.
While having a level that's way too easy is definitely not fun and part of the fun of Super Mario Maker 2 is the fact that the levels are a little challenging, it's important to make sure that the levels you make aren't too hard.
