The OpenAthens Redirector is a tool that allows you to pop the URL of a page in a resource (such as an article) on the end of a consistent prefix. When this new link is followed, the redirector works out the best way to get the user there - no need to maintain separate links for on-site and off-site access or work with complicated 'WAYFless URLs' (the redirector uses them so that you don't have to).

An ever-increasing number of resources support the redirector. These are known as 'redirectable' when discussing the redirector and it is these resources that are best to use with link resolvers as the user is taken to the specified target page. For a resource to be redirectable it must support 'WAYFless' access and deep linking (sometimes called article level linking)

If a resource is not redirectable, but does have a general access URL, it is still compatible with the IP bypass address function. These are known as 'bypassable' when discussing the redirector and should sign a user into the resource, but because they use the general access URL they will always send the user to the same place and consequently do not work with the redirector link generator.

To see redirectors in the editor enable the Show Redirectors filter in the content browser. Then, right click a redirector and select Fixup. This will resave all packages that point to the redirector, and will delete the redirector if it was able to resave all things referencing it.

To open and keep a communication channel between the tenant backup server and SP backup infrastructure, Veeam Backup & Replication uses network redirectors. Network redirectors route requests between Veeam Backup & Replication components of the two parties allowing Veeam Backup & Replication to pass commands from the SP side to the tenant side. As a result, the SP can remotely access the tenant backup server and perform data protection and disaster recovery tasks in Veeam Backup & Replication deployed on the tenant side.

Technically, a network redirector is an executable file residing in the Veeam Backup & Replication installation folder. A network redirector is deployed on every Veeam backup server or dedicated machine on which you install the Veeam Backup & Replication console. However, Veeam Backup & Replication uses network redirectors only on those machines that take part in establishing a remote connection to the tenant backup server.

Redirectors are little websites, acting as a landing pages to your phishing links. When anyone clicks on your generated phishing link, they will land on the redirector website. This website should redirect the visitor to the reverse proxied phishing sign-in page, either automatically or by requiring some user interaction.

You can either make your redirector use a technique to automatically redirect a visitor, which the scanner will have trouble emulating or you can create a redirector requiring user interaction, like clicking a button, to proceed to the phishing page. It is up to you what you decide to use.

Redirectors reside by default under ./redirectors, in root directory of Evilginx, and every redirector is a separate directory, holding all the files required to properly render your landing page.

All these custom variables can and should be customized while generating links for your lures. This allows to give your phishing landing page a personalized feel and lets you create your own redirectors with cutomizability in mind.

There are two custom variables, which are hardcoded into Evilginx and will always be replaced with the URL to the main phishing page, allowing your redirector to know where to redirect the visitor to:
