Welcome to the Dickcissel Dial the central Illinois Birding Hotline sponsored by Wild Birds Unlimited in Springfield, Illinois. Today is Tuesday, November 15th, 2022. The 2nd state record of Northern Wheater was seen in Jasper County. Tray feeders without covers have been attracting Evening Grosbeaks throughout the region. A first county ebird record for Northern Shrike was listed in Calhoun County. Brewer's Blackbird is making its way through Madison County. Whooping Crane at Bailey Wetlands in Richland County. Eared Grebe at the White Oaks Park in Bloomington. Surf Scoter and Red-necked Grebe in the coves at Lake Springfield. American Avocet at Meredosia National Wildlife Refuge.

Several winners back on September 7th with Yellow-bellied Sapsucker that drills holes where hummingbirds later feed. This week's question: which bird is called a "bullbat"?  Remember, Bewick's Wren says "knee deep" this bird is hard to find in Central Illinois with Siloam Springs State Park being one's best bet for a sighting. We took a hiatus while moving but now we are all relocated and right at home to report the local birds for you and yours. Please leave sightings and answers after the message and enjoy the outdoors!
