Hi all,
I went back to White Oak Lake for a second look at the unusual goose. I think this bird is an immature dark morph Snow Goose. In better light and closer looks the bird is gray-brown overall; the neck slightly dark than the rest of the bird. The belly is not white just a lighter gray. The legs and bill are dark, but you can kind of see the shadow of the grin patch with some slight pink/orange coming in at the base of the bill.
While I was there a female Merlin flew in and landed in a tree right in front of me......I love it when stuff like that happens.
