Welcome to the Dickcissel Dial (815) 200-8650. Today is Thursday, March 31st, 2022. Sightings can also be added by emailing: ci...@googlegroups.com

The swallows are returning to the region including Barn, Northern Rough-Winged, Cliff swallow (just south of us in Franklin County), also a crowd favorite Purple Martin. Our friends at Bobolink bird hotline in North-Central Ohio shared the Purple Martin hotline phone number: 1-814-833-7656 extension 2.

McLean County has Brewer's and Rusty Blackbird., Louisiana Waterthrush at Ewing Park, Caspian Turn on the beach at Comlara Park. Fish Crow in Morgan County. Neotropic Cormorant in Madison County. Black Vulture in Clark.

Oregon Dark-eyed Junco and Ross's Goose in Woodford. Smith's Longspur in several Eastern Illinois Counties and some remaining Common Redpoll reports from the same area. American Pipit in Egar. Piatt had Gray Catbird, Caspian Tern, Peregrine Falcon, and Pectoral Sandpiper. Orange Crowned and Pine warbler, Common Loon, red-breasted merganser, and a pair of Horned Grebes in Champaign County.

Remember, the Least Flycatcher is known as the "Chebec" because of the call it makes. The answer to last week's trivia was: Parrots. This week's trivia question: What is the word for the study of birds?

Please leave all sightings and answers after the message and enjoy the outdoors!
