Thenew Multimedia and Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment systems of the Insignia are not only state-of-the-art in terms of functionality, they are also more intuitive to use. Customers enjoy a large colour touchscreen, up to eight inches in size. Additionally, drivers benefit from a high-resolution, clearly arranged Driver Information Cluster. A head-up display is optionally available.

The top-level Multimedia Navi Pro represents a new generation of Opel on-board navigation systems. Features include connected navigation services for optimum points of interest and destination searches, as well as Live Traffic, real-time fuel prices, parking information according to the destination and online map updates. The additional comfort offered by 3D-map navigation, continuous zoom and smooth scrolling make each journey relaxing and enjoyable.

For ease of use, the newly designed Human Machine Interface of Multimedia and Multimedia Navi Pro features an intuitive layout with direct access to main domains (e.g. audio, phone, navigation) via the home screen. The tablet-like controls and swipe-gestures are ergonomic and simple to use. The driver can also operate the infotainment system via controls on the steering wheel. The Multimedia Navi Pro system can be additionally operated by embedded voice control.

To enable the driver to fully harmonise with the Insignia, the next-generation Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment system offers personalisation through user profiles. Up to five drivers can define their own profiles, allowing them to save numerous adjustments from climate-control settings to their preferred equalisation for the speaker system. Favourite destinations, radio stations and points of interests are all stored according to the personalised profile, enabling the driver to concentrate on their journey. Future evolutions of the personalisation feature will include personalised search and routing, based on individual driving patterns.

Both the Multimedia and Multimedia Navi Pro offer handy Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, along with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. DAB+ digital radio is going to be optionally available, while up to two smartphones will be hooked up to the infotainment system at the same time.

Those willing to fork out more money for the Navi Pro setup will get to enjoy a wide array of connected navigation services by being able to access real-time fuel prices, parking information, live traffic info, and online map updates. The 8-inch infotainment system comes with 3D map navigation easy to use thanks to smooth scrolling and a continuous zoom function.

Following their introduction in the Insignia lineup, the two infotainment systems will trickle down to the rest of the Opel range later this year and in 2019. As a side note, we should point out that beginning 2019, new Opels and Vauxhalls will be losing General Motors' OnStar live assistant services, which will be dropped altogether at the end of 2020. Instead, Opel Connect with tech from parent company PSA will take its place starting 2019 and one of the first models to have it will be the next-gen Corsa.

In the connected state (which requires a tethered smartphone), Live Traffic aggregates traffic information from multiple sources. Flow and conditions are updated in near real-time and integrated into routing. This provides more accurate and timely alerts as well as improved navigation routing. Additionally, Live Traffic shows which parts of the route are affected by delays and what kind of incident may be the cause.

The system was marketed as Intellilink for Buick, GMC, Vauxhall and Opel. It was marketed as MyLink by Chevrolet and Holden.[1] Cadillac used the CUE infotainment system. The systems were manufactured by three companies for GM: Panasonic for most Intellilink/MyLink units, LG Electronics for the unit equipped on the Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Trax and Vauxhall/Opel Adam, and Bosch for Cadillac's CUE system.

Intellilink runs on the QNX real-time operating system with voice recognition software from Nuance.[2] It allows users to control online services through apps, like Pandora Internet Radio or Stitcher Radio through voice commands or the touch-screen interface. The car is able to access online content via a smartphone with a 3G data connection connected through Bluetooth.[3] Users are also able to control their phone wirelessly via the same interface. MyLink also integrates OnStar's services (Advanced Automatic Collision Notification, roadside assistance, vehicle diagnostics information, live advisors, and turn-by-turn navigation).[1]

MyLink supports images in .jpg, .bmp, .png, and .gif formats; video files in .avi, .mpg, .mp4, .divx, .xvid, or .wmv formats; song files in MP3, WMA, and AAC formats and playlists in M3U standard and extended, iTunes, PLS, WAX, ASX and RMP formats.[4]

Note that the supported features and services vary from model to model. For example, MyLink in the Chevrolet Sonic and Spark models does not support Gracenote (since those models have no CD player) or climate control. The screen size, trim and appearance vary from model to model as well.

-The MyLink 4.2 features an A/M-F/M radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, and a USB port, plus a 4.2" color display screen. OnStar is an available option. This system is only available on the Chevrolet Silverado W/T Work Truck models.

-The upgraded MyLink 4.2 adds a CD player with MP3 player and WMA support, plus Bluetooth with A2DP Stereo Audio Streaming capabilities. OnStar is an available option, as is Sirius XM Satellite Radio. This system is available on the Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Impala, and Chevrolet Colorado models.

-The MyLink Apps features an A/M-F/M radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, a USB port, support for mobile apps, a full color touch screen display, OnStar, voice command capabilities that use the connected devices' voice command systems, OnStar, Siri Eyes-Free support, Bluetooth with A2DP Stereo Audio Streaming capabilities, mobile apps support, an SD card slot, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and BringGo GPS navigation system support developed by EnGIS Technologies, Inc. This system is available on the Opel Adam, Chevrolet Spark, and Chevrolet Sonic models.

-The MyLink Color Touch features an A/M-F/M radio, an auxiliary audio input jack, a USB port, a full color touch screen display, voice command, Bluetooth with A2DP Stereo Audio Streaming capabilities, steering wheel-mounted audio system controls, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, OnStar, an SD card slot, and HDD for storing music onto the system. A CD player is an available option, and is standard with most MyLink Touch systems. This radio also works with mobile apps. The Chevrolet Caprice PPV received a stripped down version of this radio for MY 14-15, with no Sirius XM, USB, Aux jack, or OnStar access. In MY 16-17 the Caprice PPV radios were further de-contented with the CD drives being eliminated, with no addition of replacement features.

-The MyLink Color Touch with Navigation adds a GPS navigation system to the MyLink Color Touch radio. On Chevrolet Camaro models equipped with this radio, the CD player option is not available.

-The MyLink Color Touch radios on Chevrolet Impala models and Chevrolet Malibu models slide out or slide up from the dashboard to reveal a hidden storage compartment for storing items such as MP3 players, cellular phones, and other devices and items behind the touch screen.

-The Mylink/IntelliLink Color Touch also features HD Radio as a standard on selected GM models in the United States. As of the 2015 model year (which began in August 2014), the Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL & Denali XL, Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon & Denali, and the GMC Acadia are the only vehicles equipped with HD Radio as a standard on all trims. It had been featured as a standard on the Chevrolet Impala and Silverado/GMC Sierra and on the Chevrolet Traverse as an optional, and as a standard on the Buick Regal and Enclave for the 2014 model year, but were removed for the 2015 model year.

A host of chassis enhancements ensures higher agility and comfort. And a completely new infotainment system generation is now available for the Insignia. It integrates many smartphone functions into the car and can be operated intuitively and simply via a touchpad in the center console.

The spotlight was on three criteria during the enhancement of the cockpit: clear, simple and thus intuitive operation, customization of the infotainment offer, and of course comfort and safety for driver and passengers, which is increased even more thanks to lowest-possible distraction from road traffic.

Additionally, the Insignia driver can control the newest generation infotainment system over newly designed, clearly laid-out steering wheel controls as well as voice commands. The advanced voice recognition function can be activated by the simple push of a button on the steering wheel controls and can also process more than one command at a time. The wide range of operating choices is the result of enhancements to the new infotainment generation.

The new Opel Insignia also makes a statement in terms of powertrain and chassis. While the mid-size model already received many accolades for driving comfort, handling and roadholding, the new edition plays in a higher league. Opel engineers made a host of improvements to the chassis including to the dampers, stabilizers and steering, resulting in decreased noise and vibrational behavior and even higher comfort.

The broad, newly expanded engine portfolio is tuned to performance and comfort without any compromises. The new Opel Insignia offers the choice between the three propulsion alternatives gasoline, diesel and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas); power output ranges from 81 kW/110 hp to 239 kW/325 hp.
