Would someone be able to confirm that these are bat droppings? It's a rough pic from a camera phone, I'm afraid, but all that I had.

The request follows being woken in the early hours the other morning to the sound of flapping and a bat wheeling around the bedroom and being most reluctant to be herded out of the window.

Anyway, what I generally supposed to be bird droppings on the windowsill (we have sparrows in the eaves) is looking to be more like bats under the fascia boards which, if correct, is really rather thrilling. Well, for 50% of the household...

Dear Richard

They look just like the ones on my porch roof where I have bats under the fascia above - they are not bird droppings.

It is easy to see if the bats are there, watch at dusk as they emerge from gaps above the droppings.  I have at least 22 bats under m y fascia

Best wishes

Charles

Charles

Thanks for that.

Richard Lord was kind enough to pass my inquiry onto Pat Costen, who heads the local bat group and she believes they are Pipistrelle and has provided a lot of extra info, which is great.

I'm delighted but Mrs D seems less pleased...

Hiya
I should point out that both mouse and shrew droppings can be mistaken for bat droppings, so the droppings themselves cannot be relied upon as proof of the presence of bats.
As Charles mentioned, take a look at dusk in likely places where they could emerge from if you need reliable evidence.
Regards
John
