Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the availability of a PhD studentship addressing the response of deep sea megafauna to anthropogenic disturbance. The PhD will be based at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK. The studentship is open to international applicants.
This studentship will address the potential effects of deep-sea mining on seafloor habitats and megafaunal abundance, diversity and distribution. The project will use the latest ROV and AUV technology for habitat mapping and megafaunal assessment from imagery and acoustic data. We are looking for a numerate student with good statistical skills and an interest in habitat mapping and deep-sea biology. Please pass this on to anyone that may be interested.
