Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a truck simulator game developed and published by SCS Software for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS and was initially released as open development on 18 October 2012.[2] The game is a direct sequel to the 2008 game Euro Truck Simulator and it is the fourth video game in the Truck Simulator series.

The game is non-linear with the basic premise of the game being that the player can drive one of a choice of articulated trucks across a condensed depiction of Europe, picking up cargo from various locations and delivering it. As the game progresses, it is possible for the player to buy more vehicles and depots, as well as hire other drivers to work for them.[3]

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a truck driving simulator with elements of a business simulation game. Players drive articulated trucks in an open world rendition of Europe, delivering loads to a designated location in order to be compensated with money and experience points. The payload must be delivered to the destination within a given amount of time, and with the least amount of damage to the goods as possible, in order to get the most money and experience points possible.[3] Players will have to spend money on refuelling, toll costs in certain countries, and maintenance costs if damage is incurred.[6]

Money earned in the game can be spent on upgrading or purchasing new customizable trucks and ownable trailers, hiring non-player character drivers to take on deliveries, buying more garages and expanding them to accommodate more trucks and drivers.[3] The skills of the drivers hired by the player also grow with experience and the player can create a huge fleet of the trucks, each with the option of having their own trailer, and drivers to drive the fleet, in turn, expanding the business across Europe.[8]

In addition, special tuning packs are available for each truck manufacturer besides Iveco and MAN. These packs add more tuning options, ranging from bull bars to branded mugs[42][43] to all trucks of the selected brand, except for the Renault tuning pack, which only features new tuning parts for the Renault Range T truck.[44]

There are several expansion packs that expand the functionality of the game, including Cabin Accessories DLC (which allows players to personalize their truck interiors), and two DLCs that allow transport of heavy cargo: the Heavy Cargo DLC[45] and the Special Transport DLC. With the Special Transport DLC, players take on special jobs during which they cannot make stops at rest areas, gas stations or deviate away from escort vehicles. The immense size and weight of the cargo within this DLC necessitates extra care and attention, however most of these cargos are mainly transported between one city and the next.[46]

In a review for Destructoid, Jim Sterling praised the game's accessibility, noting how easy the GPS and map features were to use, as well as the option to stream European internet radio, and the multitude of control options available. They also praised the graphics, stating that "[f]rom the shape of the traffic lights to the atmosphere of the backdrops, there's a sense of individuality to each new territory you uncover, and the trucks themselves are lovingly recreated with an intricate level of detail", although they did criticise the AI of the other vehicles on the road.[73]

Euro Truck Simulator (known as Big Rig Europe in North America) is a 2008 truck simulation game developed and published by SCS Software, set in Europe. The player can drive a variety of semi-trucks and trailers across a depiction of Europe, visiting the continent's cities, picking up and delivering cargo for various companies. More than 300,000 copies of the game have been sold in Europe.[1][better source needed] It is the first instalment in the Truck Simulator series of games.

Euro Truck Simulator features a realistic experience for driving trucks around Europe. The player has to deliver goods around Europe while obeying street signs, highway rules and managing their fuel levels. Euro Truck Simulator has different truck models from different real companies. Each truck has its own engine power, tires and size that effect driving. The game doesn't feature an ending and allows players to continue after having completed all objectives.

The game features European truck models with working instruments such as flashing indicators, temperature and low fuel warning lights, wipers, and gauges. The trucks included are the Mercedes-Benz Actros (known as Majestic), the Renault Magnum (known as Runner), the Scania R-series (known as Swift) and the Volvo FH16 (known as Valiant).

The game received mostly positive reviews from critics at the time of its release. Reviewers highlighted the game's good graphics, the game world and a "satisfying driving experience". They also mentioned the long driving times and repetitive gameplay as uninteresting for those not fans of transportation simulators.[4][better source needed]

At TruckersMP we take simulation seriously. Here you can immerse yourself in a virtual worldsurrounded by other truckers from all over the globe driving across the USA and Europe, andwith the addition of ProMods, the world is your oyster.

On this occasion that environment is a swathe of Europe stretching from Plymouth in the west to Wroclaw in the east, from Aberdeen in the north to Milan in the South. The tangle of motorways and major roads is stylised and condensed, but feels massive. After a splendid week of non-stop trucking the stats screen tells me I've still only seen 50% of it.

You start as a low-skilled, truckless lorry jockey, forced to take work from established haulage companies. Slowly (or rapidly if you go to a bank) you amass the funds to buy your first rig and rent your first yard. Then the fun really begins. Contract perusing, truck pimping, skill upgrading, driver hiring... this is Eddie Stobart: The Game in all but name.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is an open-world truck simulator game that gives players the freedom to trek out on the open road. The game is one of the most successfully running simulators of the decade, which mixes a bit of simulation, strategy, and man management while trying to build a trucking empire!

For people new to the game and are here for a preview, there are a few things to remember before getting to this part. First, players must be at least Level 3 to enter this phase. Only then will they have the power to purchase a garage from which the trucks can operate.

Now that the prerequisite pointers have been discussed, assignments can now be given. While hiring drivers, the game mandates that the player assign the new recruit to an owned garage and pick the truck that would need their driving expertise. Once that is done, the game automatically triggers the drivers to work independently.

Players can check the drivers through the garage manager, which shows the operations of the garage as a whole, including the drivers stationed there. The second way would be to open the Driver Manager and select the drivers' list. This provides the complete list of drivers under the player's control, including their positioned status, total earnings, assigned truck, and current status.

As it turns out, many people not only want a hyper-realistic truck driving simulator, they routinely praise Euro Truck Simulator 2 as one of the best options out there, even eight years after its initial release. The game has garnered over 222,000 user reviews on Steam, a whopping 97% of which are positive. SCS Software must be doing something right here.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 offers an unrivalled trucking experience with a massive amount of content that will keep you playing for many months or even years! Prove your skills in manoeuvring these impressive vehicles and take on a selection of delivery contracts across an incredible amount of European cities! A phenomenal amount of work has gone into this title from the creation of a European map that has taken years to create, an in depth business management section and high quality graphics that are a feast for the eyes!
