New to Premiere CC, and I'm trying to use the keyboard shortcuts as provided on the Adobe cheat sheet. However, it seems the shortcuts aren't working or triggering with my keyboard. Any thoughts? Thanks.

None of the keyboard shortcuts work. However, I did go to another application on my MacBook Pro, and found that standard shortcuts do work on that application. I suppose its not the keyboard, but is there a setting in Premiere Pro that needs to be modified, perhaps?

At first, when I "twirled" I didn't see any option to manually modify the shortcuts. However, upon clicking in the column space to the right of each option (a few times), I was able to do it. This helped, shootemz! Still fuzzy on why when selecting the "Default" option the shortcuts are not applied automatically. Any thoughts there?

This is happening to me as well. My keyboard is not working within Premiere Pro CC. Nothing that I do on the keyboard works within Prem.Pro. However it works fine while I type this. The only thing that I can think of is that my free trial period ended and Adobe may eliminate the keyboard. However, I paid for a subscription and it still won't work. Any thoughts?

happened to me just now! I was rocking the editing on my timeline with all sorts of keyboard shortcuts...proud of myself for not touching the mouse ever again...and not sure what I pressed--all shortcut keys related to playback stopped responding. I was able to use SOME shortcut keys, however, like "select clip under playhead" and "deselect".

This has been happening to me since the update too. My wireless keyboard just stops working in Premiere but I can still click around and do other things, and the keyboard still works everywhere else. Close/reopen does the trick but it's very annoying.

This happens to be a lot every since CC 2017 came out (on a mac as well). So far, the fix for me has been to open up keyboard preferences and 'update' any of the kshortcuts--even if I just set the C key to Razor the way it already was--then hit save and once I've done that the keyboard shortcuts come back.

This is probably just something dumb that I did, but this just happened to me - certain shortcuts like ripple trimming clips (Q and W) weren't working, but I figured out it was because I had Video Track 2 (V2) selected, and not Video Track 1 (V1) where all my clips are. As soon as I selected V1 (so that it highlights blue) it all worked normally again.

Premiere Pro is the defacto software for many editors due to its powerful editing tools, integration with the Adobe suite of products, and amazing customization options. Among these customization options are shortcut keys. This tutorial will be the ultimate guide in using keyboard shortcuts in Premiere Pro for macOS and Windows devices.

Premiere Pro keyboard shortcuts (or hotkeys) are commands that can be accessed entirely on your keyboard. Usually, this command has a slower means of being accessed. For example, to save a project in Premiere Pro, you can go all the way to the top of the screen and go to File > Save or you can choose the much simpler option of pressing cmd + s (or ctrl + s) on your keyboard.

Command shortcuts are simply shortcuts that use either the command key on Mac or the control key on Windows. There are a wide array of these command shortcuts that you can utilize while working in Premiere Pro.

The tools shortcut is incredibly handy for accessing all of the tools Premiere Pro has to offer. Tools in Premiere Pro are typically located within the timeline panel and allow for different notifications inside your work area.

This will bring up a keyboard layout containing a cheat sheet of all the hotkeys available in Premiere Pro. Clicking on a key in this keyboard lets you assign a shortcut to it. You can also search for specific hotkey combinations in the search box at the bottom of the keyboard.

Utilizing hotkeys is one of the most simple yet effective things that can be done in Premiere Pro to speed up workflows. Adobe allows for so much customization across all of its Creative Cloud platforms and Premiere Pro is no different. Custom keyboard layouts help you create the perfect experience based on your individual preferences.

With Simon Says, you can extend this efficiency and flexibility to your video captioning and transcriptions. The extension works natively within Premiere Pro and you can use it to significantly reduce your production times.

i have the same/similar problem, the editing shortcuts for insert (,) and override (.) are not working. -obnly way is using drag and drop with modifier. thats slowing me down big time. any suggestions? (and i did have tried to save them in keyboard shortcuts, not working.

I had the same problem and I discovered that I had accidentally changed the language of my keyboard from UK English (in my case) to Spanish. The system toggles between installed languages if you press the windows key + the space bar. You have to admit, pressing all the required shortcut keys to do your editing pretty easily leans towards you accidentally pressing Windows + Space sooner or later. As soon you do that, your keys no longer correspond to English symbols and so you become confused as you have no idea what symbol you are actually typing.

Press windows + space until your language indicator shows ENG when inside Adobe. Applications remember what language they were told to run in, which is why your other apps work fine: they remember being used in English.

I came across the same problem on my macbook pro and solved it. When I opened keyboard shortcuts I saw that no hotkeys are assigned. Then I just took the previously saved Mykeyboardprofilefile.kys and put it in documents/adobe/premiere pro/13.0/Profile-(myname)/Mac. Then it appeared in keyboard shortcuts, I chose my profile and all the keys are now working.

I have not come across any other keyboard shortcut which does not work. All the shortcuts which I have tried so far had worked fine. Only the issue was with this Q and W shortcut. It is now resolved just by chance.

NONE of my shortcuts are working, not even the spacebar. Nothing is blue on the keys in the shortcut dialog. Premiere doesn't recognize my keyboard. No prob in PS, AI, or any of the other apps on my PC. Latest June 2019 version. It is very bad for my heart, all this ...

When trying to open the Shortcut Binds, I get an error message saying "The shortcut for the Adobe Premiere Pro Defaults main folder was created on another platform and is incompatible with this version of Premiere Pro".

That's the thing. In that folder there's no profiles there. Maybe they weren't installed. I only have "[Custom].kys", that I guess was created when I created the shortcut Ctrl+S to save. Quite the hassle.

I have full Creative Cloud access through my University's license. So no trial version issues there. Shortcuts just weren't installed for some reason. Could you share your default *.kys file? Or where can I find it?

Then Premiere Pro loaded the shortcuts correctly. My guess is that there is a wording issue: Premiere Pro says "Adobe Premiere Pro Default" (i.e. singular) whereas the default file is named "...defaults" (i.e. plural).

This did it for me! The shortcuts folder under my profile was empty, just as the other users described below. After moving the keyboard shortcuts file from 'Program Files' and then also slecting the file from within Premiere Pro (Edit -> Keyboard shortcuts) everything works as expected.

Hey! I just clicked on the "editing" tab between "Assembly" and "Color", and it fixed everything! My keyboard settings are back and all functions operating. I'm also able to click back into my personalized Workspace setting Hope this helps!
