The limitation of the Elgato 4K60 Pro to this point has been that you can either capture or you can stream. But you can't do both. But now, thanks to the latest update, something called NDI and Elgato's boffins, you can do both.

That is to say, you can record footage at up to 4K resolution at 60 FPS as well as stream on Twitch, Mixer or wherever else you might like to. The streaming part is limited to 1080p, but even so, that's quite a lot of video being handled at the same time.

In simpler terms, it's a technology that allows you to send video outputs over a virtual or network connection to another app or service. In the case of Elgato, it uses NDI technology to send a copy of your 4K60 Pro capture to another app, such as XSplit, which you can then use to stream on your Twitch or Mixer channel.

For the purposes of this guide, I'm using XSplit. Essentially whichever software you use to stream with just needs to be able to accept NDI as a source, the rest is done in the Elgato 4K Capture Utility application. The other thing is that NDI is built into XSplit, where OBS users may need to download some additional software to get it working.

For example, if you're using your GPU to encode in the Elgato app, you can't then use it to render your stream in XSplit or OBS. In my case, my CPU isn't strong enough to render the video and Stream Link, so I used the GPU, then telling XSplit to render using the CPU with x264 on high quality settings.

The key thing is that while my PC is being taxed by using the feature, Stream Link itself seems to work very well. I've seen no issues in video quality, with XSplit not reporting any dropped frames on its output either. In both cases, there is good looking video with the console's audio also being transmitted over NDI (just make sure it's being sent to stream and not system sound or you won't hear anything.)

For content creators who both stream and create dedicated gaming videos, this feature could well be just what they're looking for. It allows you to still stream, but use the same video free of overlays and stuff like that for making a separate piece of content. Not to mention the ability to capture at up to 4K resolution at 60 FPS. That's the golden ticket right there.

Is it a niche feature? Most definitely. But it's something that the 4K60 Pro now offers that other capture cards do not. Even if you're not capturing at 4K or you're streaming below 1080p, this is a fine feature to have in your locker if you do more with your footage than just stream. All you need is the $400-ish Elgato 4K60 Pro and the latest version of its companion app.

I tried to replicate what elgato did in there video to get the same results. the only thing id think i did different was set the monitor mix to my speakers as apposed to headphones though I have tried with headphones too

Voicemod is the best voice changer and soundboard for gamers and streamers. The voice modulator that lets you choose from dozens of voices, design sound effects, and play sounds from your soundboard. The ultimate tool to amaze your audience!

Got the sim through Xbox game pass but cannot find the exe to map it to a profile on the Elgato Stream Deck so it will start automatically when I launch MSFS.
I can do this with all my other sims. Does anyone know how to find the MSFS exe or another way to implement this with the stream deck?

Managed to get full read access and can now see the exe. The challenge I have now is how to get access to that exe file - needed to associate it with a stream deck profile. No matter what I do, I remain locked out of the file and it seems to be a common issue with the contents of the WindowsApps folder.
Has anyone managed to set up a dynamic profile for MSFS 2020 in Elgato Streamdeck?

My MSFS folder is installed on drive A:, so i just have selected the exe from this folder and it switched automatically and back to default when i exit MSFS. Now i need a profile for to use my stream deck.

Are you running the Steam version by any chance? The MS version exe is locked for many people hence the need for the workaround. It does seem when you exit the sim back to desktop, streamdeck will switch back to your default profile though without any exe monitoring.

Especially during times of social isolation, live streaming is a staple across almost every social network. It's how many people do business, how gamers gain a following, and how many families connect across long distances.

You've already spent the money on a high-quality Olympus camera system, why not use it to your advantage? The difference between the output from your Olympus camera and a run-of-the-mill webcam is staggering. Here's a guide to get started streaming with the Olympus gear that you already own!

This device turns your camera into a webcam usable by most video conferencing and streaming programs on your Mac or PC. I personally use the El Gato Cam Link 4k. There are many other different capture cards available, but this one I've found from personal experience is the one with the least issues and a real 'plug-and-play' interface.

If you plan on just zooming with your family, attending a few small meetings with co-workers, or even a quick video game stream, the BLH-1 (Battery for E-M1 Mark II, Mark III, and E-M1x) have a streaming life span of about 100 minutes. If you plan to go longer or use it all day, then you'll have to find an external power source.

If you ever want to live stream to Facebook, Twitch, or even to your co-workers and need to use more than just your camera, I'd consider looking into Open Broadcaster Software (OBS). OBS will open up a whole new world of possibilities of overlays, multiple cameras, widgets, desktop sharing, and more. Stream Labs OBS is a more commercial platform with a paid subscription option.
