In response to a comment by Gary -- looking for an easy way to use his KX3 as a pan adapter alongside his K3:

There is an excellent .pdf file here     http://hdsdr.de/Elecraft-KX3_with_HDSDR.pdf     that will get you going in a hurry, Gary !

Is even that pretty direct and simple method to use HDSDR going to be worth the effort?  Well, there are some utube videos out there showing the KX3 feeding HDSDR.  Just search utube using something like  "  kx3 hdsdr  ".

Gary, I have not tried this -- yet.  My KX3 is my main rig:  10 watts from KX3 into KPA500 yields ~ 200 watts.

Gene, I've had the kx3 running HDSDR for quite awhile. I actually like NaP3 better. It's really just a morphed version of PowerSDR. It's really nice.

What I need is a pan adapter for the K3 along the lines of LP Pan. The kx3 should follow the k3 and dispalay the pan adapter by feeding the IF out on the K3s Xverter out to the antenna input of the KX3 and using LP Bridge or other virtual com Port program for CAT control.

My problem is; I want the pan display on a different computer than the one the K3 is hooked to. Shouldn't be too big of a deal, just networking/remoting.

I could just go with the P3 but I like the faster refresh rate, click to qsy, and resizeable window features of NaP3.

Gene here's a pic of the kx3 with NaP3 on one screen. Not sure how well you can see it. I needed a video. I've since crowded up the shack with a K3.

Here is how I did the panadapter mode of the FLEX-1500 synched with the OMNI-VII. CWSkimmer waterfall is also synched as is N1MM if you are contesting. DXLab Commander is the engine and DDUtil is the transmission.   http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/DDUtilPowerSDRN1MMSkimmerCommander

If you have something like PowerSDR and can pull a panadapter display off it, you should be able to use my topology map and connect Virtual ports to your hardware to drive the second computer and monitor.

I'm thinking along those lines except for me it's still in my head as a concept. Still trying to get my hands around all the available tools. It's real easy for me to think I have to create something when in reality it's all out there and available.

Thanks guys.......just talking it through a bit clears it up immensely for me. Like when I asked Gary the other night how the receiver on the Flex 1500 is protected. Now I don't know what I was thinking. If it's being fed off the IF out of the TenTec, it's not seeing much, if anything when the TenTec transmits, duh, lol. I must have been thinking it had it's own seperate antenna input from an antenna or something.

That's a great idea about Chrome. That could really simplify and tidy things up.

Ok, Gary ( KC9EE ), I think I now understand what you wanna do. .

Well, IF you would consider the DXlab Suite, and it's Commander  ( rig(s) CAT control ) program; and IF you have 2 usb ports on your primary PC ( or invest in a powered USB hub ) -- this is a slick solution:

Commander can be configured to get a "secondary" rig to follow a "primary" rig's band / frequency / mode changes.  There is info about how to configure DXlab Commander to do that here

http://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/Help/ControllingMultipleRadios.htm               Check out the Secondary CAT Port section.

Using Commander you have your KX3 following your K3.  Now you just pipe the KX3 to the computer you want to run your "pan adapter" on, in the usual way.  Voila !

I think you're absolutely correct. Think it's time I get familiar with DXlabsuite. Should be sweet. Kinda like a triple receiver K3.
Thanks for stickin with me on this one guys. I think it's about figured out. Not sure when I'll have time to implement but at least I won't be thinkin so much about it in my sleep, lol.

BEFORE I delete this series of emails on MY computer; Gary, my OMNI-VII with FLEX-1500 sub-receiver is NOT using the OMNI IF to feed the FLEX.  The OMNI has a N4PY mod to run the receive loop out an AUX Jack and then back in on an AUX jack.  A double male single female phono Y adapter across the two AUX jacks is used to TEE the OMNI RX loop for the FLEX RX (only) antenna. The received signals in both receivers is 3 dB down  as the result of the RX loop split. The FLEX-1500 is run off the secondary CAT serial port of DXLab Commander which is used to synch or slave the radios or they may be operated independently. Since the OMNI RX loop is protected internally, the FLEX is also.
