A message from an Arizona ham.. if you like towers and antennas..

A good friend Tim Taylor, K8XS, just put up a 90 foot Luso tower with rotating base.  He put a 4 element full size 40 meter yagi by JK Antennas, plus various MHF yagis on the tower.  If anyone was at last year’s Dayton and saw the Luso that was on display there, Tim bought it, along with the rotating base.  It took him from a week or so after Dayton until about ten days ago, to get all of the necessary paperwork taken care of, which finally allowed him to put up the tower.  Anyone interested in looking at a series of pictures covering the project can go to www.7163net.comand click on Tim’’s picture near the top.  There is also a series of photos taken from the top of the Luso looking at Tim’s SteppIr DB42 on his 106 foot US tower.

One interesting detail of buying a Luso tower, you must pay full cost of bringing a Luso engineer over from Japan to supervise the installation.  Tim paid over $5 grand for the airline tickets, hotel, and food for the engineer.  If you want one of their towers, you must pay for their engineer to come over for a week to install it.  Tim also brought Yuki over to assemble the 404 Grande as he has lots of experience putting JK’s together.  Tim is placing an order for a 150 foot Luso which will replace the US tower.
