I know there have been threads on this group relating to various French cider-makers, some of which I have found, but I have been hunting for anything that refers to French cider festivals like those that take place in Spain (Gijón & Nava, for example). Unfortunately searching for terms like "France cider festival" just turns up pages of someone's advertisments. Grrr!

So, has anyone attended a French cider festival and has any basic information about them such as web links etc?

Cheers,

   Martin

p.s. I attended the Nava (Asturias) festival last year and had a great time. If anyone wants to know more about it, email me personally and I'll be happy to enlighten them. Mind you, I speak Spanish so it was easy for me to get involved with the locals - I don't think they speak much English in those parts though I might be wrong. I might try the festival in Gijón this year.

I know there will be a regional festival and cider competition in Fouesnant on the weekend of the 16-17 of July. I don't know much about it yet - but I know I'll be there this summer as I'm invited to be part of the jury and to make a conference, plus there will be some book signing for the French cider book.
You can find a bit about last year's edition here: http://ville-fouesnant.fr/concours-de-cidre-de-fouesnant

I doubt this will have much similarities with Spanish festivals. I was there for the Gijón festival a few years ago, and it is quite unique.

P.S. for those waiting for the French cider making book, it is coming soon. See http://www.lerouergue.com/catalogue/du-pommier-au-cidre
