I'd like to get some thoughts on the "Orca" 1000L BD made by Blue Ocean Container. I'm strongly considering making Bag in Box (IBC liners) the primary fermenter and storage container for my cider business. This collapsible container looks like it has promise--easier than cutting the tops off a bunch of IBC plus it can be folded down when it's not in use. Any thoughts on the potential of this thing?

Not thoughts exactly, just some points I am worried about.

What is BiB oxygen permeability, compared to IBC?
Is BiB reusable? If yes, how to clean it?
BiB is definitely not as strong as IBC. Are chances to blow or puncture it really small?
And how to let the CO2 out of of BiB?

So, normal IBC liners (the "bag" in the BiB) are much more permeable to 02 than HDPE IBCs. However, for a low cost one can purchase liners made from a material which makes them very low permeability to O2, much lower than HDPE IBCs.

The bags are not meant to be reused

Transporting bulk liquids in 1000L liners is common, but the bag needs to be in a container that protects it and provides rigid sides.

I don't see why one couldn't put an airlock in the top fill hole of a liner, as long as that hole can be fixed in place with a collar.

Seems all items are resolved!

maybe this is a bit suspicious to me:

Is it really easy with this ORCA bag? With any external holder I'd be bothered with possibility to tear the airlock away with some sudden move. Actually, airlock should not be the point where any force is applied. Which means, the rest part of the BiB must be fixed really well. If this is doable and the bag won't change its geometry accidentally --- seems legit.

Is it cheap? If yes, I would give it a sort of a dry run.  Not really dry, actually, but fill it with water and see how it behaves.
