Hi all,

This is a request for information from the UK members of this group...

One of the pubs in Bristol who take my cider but also used to buy via the Bristol Cider Shop have asked me what other distributors are available. The Cider Shop have, for whatever reason, stopped supplying to pubs.

I know of Lilleys but they don't do any of the ciders from the "three counties" as far as I can see (or at least none that I recognise). There is also Aims but their cider selection seems limited (though it does have Handmade Cider's Firestarter which I do like).

So who do other UK producers on this workshop use? Even if you don't sell commercially, do you know of a distributor for the Bristol area?

Thanks in advance.

Martin,

I do not think there are any wholesalers delivering into Bristol since Bristol Cider Shop put up their minimum order and Aims now only want to deal with pasteurised or artificially sweetened (long shelf life) cider. Fetch The Drinks may ship into Bristol via courier. I deliver into Bristol once a month, so if you would like to pass my number on to this pub I can deliver direct to them.

Cheers,
D

Martin,

You could try Sean McFetrich of Fetch the Drinks – he is a nice chap and as far as I can tell mostly deals in real… http://fetchthedrinks.com/

John Hallam is another supplier who delivers nationwide. Does a lot of CAMRA festivals. Can’t find a website for him, but am sure others who supply to him would have the information.

There are others (who I am sure will post). Cider Box might be worth checking out… though I am not 100% clear on whether they are a cider ‘club’, cider shop or cider suppliers…

All the best

Jez

I sure do but I looked at their web site and they do sell cider from other makers, some of whom I recognise to be makers of "proper" cider.
Not sure how much they charge wholesale though.

Lilleys are also a CAMRA-recognised supplier / wholesaler of ciders. Drinks distribution was their core business before they started "brewing" their own. (I use the term advisedly).

Thanks Dennis. In fact it is more than one pub that has asked me about this so I'll pass your number on to all of them!

As someone commented about a Lilley supplied festival a month or so ago - of 120 'ciders' there were only worth trying

Thanks Jez,
Sean very quickly sent a trade price list. Looks good (apart from the naff fruit flavoured "ciders").
John Hallam seems to be Jon rather than John. Only a phone number for him but I'll pass his number on.
Clicking on numerous links I came across other supposed suppliers, including CAMRA-approved ones, but quite a few of the web links failed so maybe it's a tough world out there and they've closed down.
Still, I've got some useful info to go on now, thanks.

"As someone commented about a Lilley supplied festival a month or so ago - of 120 'ciders' there were only [3] worth trying"

They have a stack em high and sell em cheap mentality, last time I spoke to Lilleys they offered me £1 per litre for the cider and £2 for the bib it would be shipped in!

I have also had complaints from an afficionado about one of my ciders at Bristol Cider Festival, when I had not supplied any to the festival. It turned out to be stock supplied for Bath Cider Festival which had been stored badly and carried over to the next event.

Hey all
We're a cider distributor, making weekly deliveries into Bristol and the yonder. Our range is solely pure juice/not from concentrate, real cider. If we haven't seen a press or an apple within a few mins of meeting a producer we're out the door. We also do events, tasting sessions, cheese pairings, etc. We're based in Shepton Mallet.

Get in touch with wholesale info: d...@theciderbox.com
We're not a cider club/subscription service. We really should change our name. Maybe tomorrow.
