Hello all,
A complete novice in terms of making cider but we had an incredible amount of apples on our trees this year and we thought that we would get some cider made. Our local juicing company made a 10l tub of apple juice for us and with that they supplied a sachet of yeast. The tub has a glass airlock bubbler fitted to the top. I brought it home and mixed the sachet of yeast with some cold water (at the right temperature) as directed in the instructions which came with the yeast. I then pored this into the tub and sealed the lid. Finally I filled the glass airlock bubbler with some water. That was around 3 weeks ago. Since then there has been no activity, no bubbles at all. It is being kept in an insulated garage next to the house. We live in Southern England. We tried some cider making a few years ago using the same kit and I recall that we saw some bubbles that time and the cider was great when we eventually came round to decanting it and filling some bottles. My question is should I leave things as they are with this latest batch of apple juice or should I add some more yeast? Should I have seen some bubbles by now which should indicate that something is happening?
Many thanks for your advice.
Martin
