At this time of year, some/many of us are marking undergrad final year projects. In addition to the projects I supervise, I am 2nd marker for a number of projects. The students I supervise are aware of internationalisation/localisation as I enlighten them during their projects. The vast majority of the students for whom I am 2nd marker have never thought about internationalisation/localisation. Here is one of the things I do to encourage these students to think about internationalisation/localisation.
Sometimes projects involve forms with fields that can require email address and/or a URL. My usual practice is to ask these students if they have considered non-English email addresses, such as 小山@电邮.在线 (my Chinese email address), and a non-English URL, such as
종로회관.닷컴 Over many years the answers, so far, have always been no but I hope to have encouraged thinking about the practical aspects of internationalisation/localisation
