This year 2017/2018 I supervised 12 student projects. 8 of them were internationalised.

5 were developing internationalised websites

2 were concerned with using international social media eg Weibo 微博 and VK ВКонта́кте

1 was to build a restaurant ordering system for a Russian client so all user facing text was in Russian

Standard procedure is to have a cover page for the project report. Those of my international students look a little different to every other cover page because I get my students to write their names in both romanised form and native script form, when applicable. This year the cover pages for my international students include names written in Chinese and Urdu.

This academic year I added an additional requirement to the report. I asked the students to write a short Biography describing something about themselves as a person. I decided to include this to add a human interest aspect to the report. I made it optional but most of my students did write a biography. I found it interesting to read these biographies. I learned, for example, the ancestry of some of my students. I think a personal biography works really well in a project report.
