Time for another one of my i18n anecdotes😀 This would not have happened if I did not have an interest and involvement in i18n. This is another example of the creative potential of i18n.

On Saturday there was the annual Nottinghamshire, UK, Pride event in Nottingham city centre. Every year, this event gets bigger and bigger. After the event I recalled a relevant Chinese idiom, 人山人海, which means crowd/multitude/many people. The literal translation is "People Mountain People Sea". I realised I could adapt this idiom to make it even more relevant to Nottingham Pride. My adapted idiom is 虹山虹海 where 虹 means rainbow. See twitter.com/andreschappo/status/1155441005832888320 and weibo.com/1873499154/HFAsnxSzw In the case of Weibo 微博 I forwarded a studentʼs posting as her photos are much much better than mine.

I did an informal search on Google and Baidu and have not found anyone, other than myself, using the adapted idiom 虹山虹海
