One can now have a free Japanese email address of the form X@データメール.コム where X is any mix of Kanji and/or Kana. Register at データメール.コム

コム is Verisignʼs Japanese com

データメール is a transliteration of DataMail

The availability of Japanese email addresses was announced on Sunday 10th March 2019 at ICANN64 in Kobe 神戸, Japan 日本.

Note: Currently, not all email servers and email clients can correctly handle such internationalised email addresses. Many companies are actively working on supporting internationalised email addresses. Companies that already support internationalised email addresses include Google, Microsoft and XgenPlus.
