The OpenTelemetry Collector offers a vendor-agnostic implementation of how toreceive, process and export telemetry data. It removes the need to run, operate, and maintain multiple agents/collectors. This works with improved scalabilityand supports open source observability data formats (e.g. Jaeger, Prometheus,Fluent Bit, etc.) sending to one or more open source or commercial backends. Thelocal Collector agent is the default location to which instrumentation librariesexport their telemetry data.

For trying out and getting started with OpenTelemetry, sending your datadirectly to a backend is a great way to get value quickly. Also, in adevelopment or small-scale environment you can get decent results without acollector.

However, in general we recommend using a collector alongside your service, sinceit allows your service to offload data quickly and the collector can take careof additional handling like retries, batching, encryption or even sensitive datafiltering.

It is also easier to setup a collector than you might think: thedefault OTLP exporters in each language assume a local collector endpoint, so ifyou launch a collector it will automatically start receiving telemetry.

Collector components differ in their maturity levels. Each component has itsstability documented in its README.md. You can find a list of all availablecollector components in the registry.

A last question from my side to better understand this issue, if I want the agents to communicate with the collector, should I open the respective ports 5508, 6608, 8037(outbound to the agent) and inbound to the collector?

Or the communication between the collector and the agent is done automatically and no configuration needs to be made to and I should only run the .msi file without making any other changes (in the case of Mass Deploying of Agent with token method?

I started off with the little book and I will tell you, that little book is a waste of time! THIS book is what you need. I have gotten many family and friends to buy this book. They all love and enjoy it. Now they are interested in the parks and collecting stamps. This is the absolute best gift you can give anybody that loves the outdoors and visiting the parks.

I have had the pocket edition of the passport for years but found I did not have enough room if I wanted to visit all the parks and get stamps. I love that there is a designated spot for each stamp and there is plenty of room for multiple stamps for the same location!

I received a pocket version but I feel strongly if you intend to visit more than a handful of parks, this is where you should start. I bought this book and the collection of all stamp sets. It was an investment to start, but I will save a ton on stickers over the years by not paying $3 per sticker at the parks. I love the checklist, I love all the info on each site, and it's beautiful will all the stickers placed in it.

If you are at the beginning of your national parks adventures I really strongly feel this is the way to go.

Absolutely wonderful! Great tool that makes me to really explore the beauty of this amazing land (country) I never knew much about. This books will make me venture places I could only dream of! Cannot wait! I got two passports( small and the big one) both stunning! I thank you for this!

Not only a great place to store passport stamps and cancellations, but a great guide to the parks and locations. We also have the smaller version which is also excellent and a bit more convenient to carry with us.

Love this book - wish we had known about it sooner (or looked more closely in the various NPS gift shops we've been in.) We really like the slightly larger size, and collecting the stickers has become a fun secondary hobby after collecting cancellations! C'mon, next gift shop - have 1987!

After discovering the limitations of my own basic passport book, I decided this edition would make great, functional gifts for newly retired family members anxious to travel. The books are serving as dreaming/planning guides for trips to come and I felt great about supporting our National Parks! The recipients are delighted

I was looking for a unique way to capture our National Park adventures, and the Passport Collectors Edition is perfect. It is well assembled with a wealth of information that will allow us to enjoy our travels for many years to come. When it arrived it was bigger than I had imagined, which was a nice surprise. Compared to other editions it includes ample space to collect stamps and cancellations. The thing I love most is this is something I can see we will enjoy ourselves and as our family grows in the future.

I absolutely love the Collector's Edition Passport to Your National Parks. It is better than expected and has really given me the motivation to hit the road this summer and visit our National Parks. It has been a very long and difficult time, but now that the pandemic is hopefully subsiding, this is the perfect passport to visit the places that define our wonderful country.

I bought all 3 passport editions to do a video review. This one is definitely the best edition if you're trying to decide between the 3. It's the best organized and contains a lot of info about individual parks, and what city they are located. So you can easily find where to get stamps! Even the explorer edition does not go into that much detail!

My family and I recently just got into traveling from park to park. This book was definitely a must for use after our first park trip. My husband and I picked up a copy for ourselves and a junior ranger book for our 2 girls. They soon fell in love with our book as well. This made for an amazing Easter present for them and their baby brother for us to document our family memories. So much room for cancelations. We love that this is something big enough to collect each of our trips. Something we will cherish for years.

I have been a Nat'l Parks Passport user, from way back (before they put spiral Binding in the pocket size!)
This gorgeous edition can be kept with a Kindle and Tablet or laptop when vacationing, and pulled out as you go to each Park...
You can consult how far off the beaten trail it might be tossing by and grab the Cross Creek, or Nicodemus, cancellations on arowd Trips!
Plenty of room for Each Park/Site Stamp and Cancellation, with room for added/multiple cancellations as well.

Purchased two collector and three pocket size passport books to give to family so they can get in on my obsession. All were in perfect condition and shipping was prompt.

Wonderful to give as gifts esp with a discount code

I started out with the classic pocket size passport. While it was a great starter it didn't take long to realize that there just wasn't enough room. I was torn between this and the Explorer edition. I liked that the Explorer was expandable but this won me over with the organization of it. Every single park has a designated spot! And there is still room for extra stamps!

Love this Passport! Much better and bigger than small Passport. Only issue is that is needs updated pages and EXTENDER pages to add and update like small and Explorer books. Fyi, can use a "bible" type cover to carry and protect Passport....

As our children were growing up, we made a point of visiting as many National Parks as we could. Now that are children are grown and starting families of their own, I purchased the Passport Collectors Edition for each one of them this Christmas. It was a great gift. There already talking about which parks they are going to revisit. The book is a great way to help plan a trip and keep track of the memories.

I wanted a passport with every location and a place for every cancellation and stamp. This is that book! This book is perfectly organized, first by region with a map of the region and locations plotted. Then a checklist of the locations. Lastly the region is broken down by state and features a place for each location to have its own cancellation and stamp. Additional pages are also included for cancellations and stamps! Very sturdy, and will hold up well. Not too large or bulky either. We always travel carry on only.

I really love this book! It is awesome! However, I think it would be better if there were more pages for extra stamps! I am in the Western Region and there are so many parks and so many stamps that 3 extra pages is not nearly adequate. There is no way to add in any extra pages and that is disappointing. Additionally travelling with the book has damaged its cover so perhaps a more sturdy cover would be better..... or a case to put the book in while you travel so the cover sustains less wear and tear. Just my two cents! I do love my passports!!

My wife and I have the smaller version and decided to upgrade to this larger version book. It is much easier to read, find things, and enter notes and other information. It was a great purchase for us.

The book is amazing. We used it for the first time this week, and loved it. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because it was raining one day, and I triple bagged it to keep it dry because we plan on using it for years to come. I would love to have a cover for it. For right now, I'm hoping it will fit in a ziplock bag. Thank you for adding to our enjoyment of the National Parks.

Extremely well organized and very informative. I too wish had it years ago, but am enjoying it very much now that I have it. Live in KY traveled to Maine for a family wedding and went to Acadia while we were there it was stunningly beautiful. Got my first cancellation! Could be a great learning tool for a young family to enrich appreciation of this wonderful country.
