Aftera week of test driving and classes, Marines travel in pairs and learn to operate and maneuver during the humvee course by driving 250 miles. After completing the milage requirements, they will be graded on their first road test.
During the required classes, Marines are taught how to fill out trip tickets, how to record miles, what to watch out for while driving during the day or night time, how to tow another vehicle and more.
Once the course is completed, the Marines will receive an OF 346, which is a Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card. On the card, it states, they can operate all tactical government vehicles.
Over five days the students of the humvee course learned to properly drive in reverse, drive at night and earned their mileage around Fightertown. The course helps maximize their capability of driving a humvee and remain mission ready in order to keep the Air Station rolling.
Ok, so I'm done creating my humvee and it looks amazing!... I think... Lol, But anyways, now it's time to UVW Unwrap it and I have been having a very hard time trying to figure out how to UVW Unwrap it and get the best results. Also I have seen some people use real photos as textures then I see other people use Photo Shop to create the textures, so what is the best way to unwrap it and what is the best way to give it a realistic texture? I'm pretty new to 3DS Max I have started it about 4 mounths ago so yha I'm a rookie lol. This is my first vehicle I've made on 3DS Max!
From what you've described so far, I personally would use a simple box UVW for the body, give the different parts and polygons different material ID's, and apply multi/sub-object material to it. It's much simpler/easier than UVW Unwrap and can give a more photorealistic result.
Okay, Thanks! Its for a FPS war game Im making on a software called Unreal Engine 4. Also, would you recommend using Photo Shop to make a texture or using a real humvee image as the texture for the humvee, what do you think would give this model the best results? Thanks again!
Both + color based materials. The places I would use "Real" photos are those places that aren't fully modeled like i.e. instrumentboard, tires, number plates and parts of the lights. On things like metal parts, chrome parts and the painted main body, I would use simple color based materials in combination with some hand painted photoshop textures (dirt, scratches etc.).
Oh, ok Thanks! Also one more quick question. If you have the time, could you give me some links to some really helpful videos of people box unwraping & creating their textures on Photo Shop? I have tried looking but I can't really find one that helps really good. Thanks!!! I appreciate the time you have given!
The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV; colloquial: Humvee) is a family of light, four-wheel drive, military trucks and utility vehicles produced by AM General. It has largely supplanted the roles previously performed by the original jeep, and others such as the Vietnam War-era M151 jeep, although typically seen with the US military, the Humvee has seen service with other nations such as Spain, Portugal, Taiwan, Greece, Lithuania and Georgia.
The Humvee seats four people with a fully enclosed metal cabin with a vertical windshield. The body is constructed from lightweight and rust-resistant aluminum, instead of conventional steel. It has all-wheel drive with an independent suspension and helical gear-reduction hubs similar to portal axles which attach towards the top rather than the center of each wheel to allow the drivetrain shafts to be raised for a full 16 in (410 mm) of ground clearance.
The Humvee is the king of durability, boasting 6000 durability, it can shrug off accidents, hit & runs, as well as bullets from Cultists and T-Dolls with little effort; In addition to this, the smaller windows in the humvee, & the lack of the windows in the back, provide a considerably larger amount of player protection when compared to other vehicles. Though the high durability could also allow the Humvee to survive a few explosions set off by Megumin or Momo's grenades, for any occupants not wearing any protection, they may not survive either way, and it may not be enough if it were to hit a Landmine as that could deal enough damage to take out the Humvee.
The Humvee's downside for its high durability, is its speed. Compared to the Delinquent and the Sedan, the Humvee is rather sluggish in comparison, being on the same level as the Pick-up, but faster than the Tractor.
