You only need this one file if all you want to do is run VirtualDub. Unzip andstart virtualdub.exe - requires Windows 98+ or NT4.0+, 80486 or higher CPU, and16MB of memory. (Note: Extractthe full contents to a directory. Don't run it directly from the zip file.)
My steps to do this with deshaker-version-2.4 were as follows:
[ul]
[li]Step-1 : VirtualDub. Download VirtualDub from here: VirtualDub download (at SourceForge) - virtualdub.org . Place in /home/your-username/windows. Uncompress it into its own subdirectory, and change that to /home/your-username/windows/virtualdub [i][/li]
Test virtualdub in a terminal by navigating to /home/your-username/windows/virtualdub and typing :
.
[li]Step-6 : download deshaker plugin . Now download the deshaker plugin from this web site: (currently the exact download link is here ) . Download it to /home/youruser-name/windows and unzip the file. Then take the Deshaker.vdf plugin and copy it to /home/youruser-name/windows/virtualdub/plugins [/li].
[li]Step-7 : check if deshaker plugin found. Now navigate to the VirtualDub directory in a konsole (/home/your-username/windows/virtualdub ) and start VirtualDub with: [/li]```
wine VirtualDub.exe
I've seen this similar question AviSynth can't open my AVI file: "AVISource: Couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc dvds". The virtualdub website < _frameserver.html > says "Use the AVISource filter. DirectShowSource is unreliable". I've tried both.
I prefer to record with virtualdub cuz it's simple. But for some reason while even viewing the input from my PC, it can't maintain 60fps. There's an indicator in the bottom right corner showing the framerate its running at and it's all over the place. Going from low 30s up to the high 50's and on rare occasion hitting 60 for a second before dropping down again. I've been trying things and searching google for days without finding a solution. There's not a lot of info to be found on it.
