Results: The study included 14 females (mean age: 43.4 years). All had usedPueraria mirifica, and most expected a breast-enhancement effect. Most discovered theproduct online or by word-of-mouth. One participant required treatment for menstrualirregularity and breast tightness/discomfort after ingesting Pueraria mirifica.
Conclusion: Consumers often stop ingesting Pueraria mirifica due to poor health orafter learning of the public alert. We must establish an information distribution system sothat health food consumers have access to alert information before purchasing.
Despite being aware of the alerts, some said they might switch toa different product that does not contain Pueraria mirifica or mightcontinue using Pueraria mirifica if there are beneficial effects thatoutweigh the adverse effects. While one participant recognized thealerts, she said she still hoped for the breast enhancing effects, hadexchanged information with her friends, and was already thinkingof purchasing the next similar product. One participant who hadsubscribed to a regular supply of Pueraria mirifica cancelled it afterbecoming aware of the alert.
Therefore, consumers need access not only to online reviewsand information from the seller but also to the above-mentionedreliable information. They should critically judge all informationbefore carefully making a purchase [3]. The government needs toestablish a support system for individuals seeking health foodsthrough health education and information provisions. This studywas limited in that it included only subjects living in the Kanto areaand that the surveyed opinions were limited to those of females, even though there were males who also purchased the products. Therefore, the generalization of the results requires carefulattention. Furthermore, the study included not only those who hadpurchased and were ingesting Pueraria mirifica but also those whodid so 10 years prior. Therefore, our data may include errors ofmemory, and a more rigorous, large-scale survey is required [10].The factors surrounding the usage of particularly dangerous healthfoods have yet to be grasped. As the government seeks to provideappropriate information to the public, physicians, and healthcareprofessionals, our findings may help build a foundation for the safeuse of health foods.
Many study participants purchased Pueraria mirifica for beautypurposes such as breast enhancement or skin beautification. Theypurchased products that appeared to be effective and affordablebased on online reviews and the impressions provided by salescompanies. However, in one case, the expected effects were notseen and health troubles, such as irregular menstrual periods, occurred and required medical attention. Although about half ofthe study participants knew about the alert issued by the CustomerAffairs Agency and the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, many were not aware of it at the time of purchase. A purchasingpattern was revealed in which consumers search and examine theeffects of the product online, purchase the product unaware of thepublic alert, and, after the purchase, stop taking the product due todevelopment of a poor physical condition or after being informed ofthe alert. From the above, it is necessary to improve the methods ofinformation dissemination, such as search engine optimization, sothat alert information can reach consumers before they make theirpurchases. Preferably, consumers would have access to the alertinformation at the same time as they access the product reviews, enabling them to make sound judgments. It would also be wise toestablish a system to communicate information to professionals inthe event of health damage.
Small studies suggest that pueraria mirifica may help ease some symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes, vaginal dryness, irritability, and irregular periods. But recent reviews of these studies have been inconclusive. So, the jury is still out on whether these claims can actually be supported by doctors.

While the position and appearance of the nipples may be changed during a mastopexy, the sensation in the nipples should not be affected. Most women are able to retain sensation in their nipples after a mastopexy, and they should still be able to breastfeed or enjoy sexual activity as they did before the surgery. However, every woman is different, and it is important to discuss your specific concerns and goals with your surgeon before undergoing a mastopexy in NYC.
