I'm not sure where Lazarus is at in SVN, but check out these bug

You can fix bug 0017835 by altering the lazarus source file in
components/chmhelp/lhelp/chmcontentprovider.pas

Make the 2 changes suggested in the bug report #0017835
It looks like this will be fixed in version >= 0.99.0, I am not sure
how they choose their version numbering scheme.

#17981 may be fixed in version >= 1.0.0
I am currently using version 0.9.29 compiled from SVN source.
