Purpose: Nighttime driving is dangerous and is one of the most challenging driving situations for most drivers. Fatality rates are higher at night than in the day when adjusted for distances travelled, particularly for crashes involving pedestrians and cyclists. Although there are multiple contributory factors, the low light levels at night are believed to be the major cause of collisions with pedestrians and cyclists at night, most likely due to their reduced visibility. Understanding the visibility problems involved in nighttime driving is thus critical, given the increased risk to road safety.
Recent findings: This review discusses research that highlights key differences in the nighttime road environment compared to the day and how this affects visual function and driving performance, together with an overview of studies investigating how driver age and visual status affect nighttime driving performance. Research that has focused on the visibility of vulnerable road users at nighttime (pedestrians and cyclists) is also included.
Summary: Collectively, the research evidence suggests that visual function is reduced under the mesopic lighting conditions of night driving and that these effects are exacerbated by increasing age and visual impairment. Light and glare from road lighting and headlights have significant impacts on vision and night driving and these effects are likely to change with evolving technologies, such as LED streetlighting and headlights. Research also highlights the importance of the visibility of vulnerable road users at night and the role of retroreflective clothing in the 'biomotion' configuration for improving their conspicuity and hence safety.

Been playing around with simple Arduino LED circuits for a few weeks, starting from basically no knowledge moving towards building a circuit for a lighting display project I am making. Just looking for some general advice/okay about the planned circuit.
Like I said, total amateur at electronics in general, but been making little ardunio led circuits in reality, plus some slightly more accurate ones in Tinkercad, which has got me to the stage of ordering what I think are all the necessary parts off the internet...
So I plan it to be very similar to the attachment, just with a 2x ULN2803's instead of individual transistors. And the voltage/resistors etc will of course be different, but this takes some figuring out as a novice so any advice on power supply size etc for this but with 3w led bulbs would be great!

Audio Visual Lighting Services, also known as AVLS, is part of University Reservations housed within University Centers in the Student Union. AVLS is the eight to ten student staff team that supports events that require production services ranging from a lecture setup through large-scale A/V productions for concerts. Most events take place in the Student Union, outdoors spaces, or at the REC. The AVLS office is located on the third floor Student Union, 3200.
AVLS has a wide variety of production equipment that may be reserved or rented on a first come, first served basis. Recognized Student Organizations and campus groups are given primary consideration. All equipment reservations must be made 2 weeks in advance of the event. Any last minute requests may not be accommodated. To reserve equipment please contact Doug Wilken. If AVLS does not have the equipment you need we can assist you by finding an outside rental organization. Please note, all external expenses will be the responsibility of the sponsoring group.
