To my beautiful friends in Thailand, I see you being divided & thus conquered. You have been led to believe you are fighting for "your side" - red, yellow or otherwise but YOUR side is THAI. It comes with no color. This is not rooting for your local football club. The leaders of the country from both sides have done little for you. You have both sustained injuries and casualties in past protests. You both still have comrades in prison. And so long as you remain divided - bangkok and the south versus the north and northeast - none of you will win; none of you will prosper. I do not have the solutions. Those you must come together and work out for yourselves. But I do know that continuing to do the same that has already been done before will continue to get you similar results. Reds, I understand your plight, I just believe you are being misled. This government has given you nothing but a tablet PC and an empty promise. The increased rice prices aren't making it to farmers but they are bankrupting the country. Is it not clear to you that you are being used? Corruption is at an all-time high and yet you think that's ok as long as you benefit somehow. Well the reason you remain poor is BECAUSE all that money that goes to corruption leaves little for infrastructure and other productive means the government could have put it into. And to Bangkok and the South, why have you not extended a hand to you northern and northeastern brothers and sisters? They need your help. They need new and innovative ideas about how to economically progress. They need to know you are all one.

The violence has already started once again. May you find a way to avert further bloodshed. Remember we are one & unite and the people of Thailand shall surely be victorious. Allow them to continue to divide you and you shall all surely lose.

Sean Enright The big problem after all this is over will be that there is no political party the people truly support any longer. The rural support in the north and northeast for the present ruling party (phua thai) has been eroding for sometime as theyve been realizing thaksin is just a selfish bastard thats been using them to get he and his family elected so they could rape the country. the democrats, while less corrupt, only get votes from bangkok and the south, and haven't been able to present an image other than being part of the old guard and thus status quo. I think we'll see multiple 3rd parties but none will be that well organized. We may also see a re-think on democracy and how it's packaged. In a lot of ways, Thais are significantly more involved in their system of governing now than Americans are in theirs. However, I don't think they really know which way to take they involvement and their system forward.

I love my king and my phuket ^0^
