We are exactly 1 month away from the start of the regular season.

I've attached the 2014 schedule to this e.mail. Please look over the schedule. I tried to be as fair as possible with respect to the amount of home games, preferred playing days and times, and other requests but sometimes I didn't have much choice. It was tough to make the schedule exactly how I wanted it because an odd number of teams.

Please let me know f there are any immediate concerns with the schedule. I'll have it loaded on the website soon.

I'm still looking for coaches for a few schools; I have a few leads but it's been very tough this year finding volunteers. We're trying. We haven't forgotten.

Continue to encourage your players to register; the due date is March 10th, after which, players must pay a $10 late fee.

And maybe we should have another info meeting/captain's-only pickup game. Would be good for the team leaders to get together maybe!

If we do have an info meeting I suggest someone review a list of drills for practices.  Since most are fairly new to the sport they could use some ideas on practice drills.   If you think it will be too time consuming during this meeting I can have my son film a bunch of drills and post it on YouTube for everyone.  He is into filming/editing and posting.  He has a high quality camera/tripod.  All we need is someone to run the drills.....Roger?  Josh?

Yes, that's a great idea, and I'm happy to help. 

Also, I've just purchased a set of UltiCards that I'm anticipating will be quite helpful throughout the season; particularly to any of us coaches who may not have a deep catalog of drills in our head. 

Aside from the USAU CDP(Coaching Development Program) Drills & Skills deck, I'd hazard a guess that the most particularly useful decks would be 'drills,' 'essential,' 'throwing,' or 'trivia.'

As a formerly important person in youth ultimate, let me made a couple suggestions for drills resources.

http://www.playspedia.com/ has animated drills and O/D sets.  There is a lot of info, but it can be quite valuable.
USAU has a drills manual.  You can buy it here: http://www.wrightlife.com/flying-disc/basic-skills-strategy-and-drills-usau/  In years past, the Cincinnati players association has purchased this for all new coaches.

The ulticards are pretty good, though very basic.  Don't underestimate the value of the rules cards.

Also....I am not a USAU coaching instructor.  Probably too late for a coaching clinic, but I would be happy to run or help with a more practical skills based clinic.  I am in the process of making a skills manual with the accumulated knowledge of all the coaches here in Cincy and will share it as I complete it.
