Thursday at 7 p.m. - LAST CHANCE

Please, please show up at Thursday’s school board meeting at 7 p.m.
Speak up during comments, stand when others are speaking in support of
Carrboro High School. And, if you can, stay at the meeting after
public comments because it DOES make a difference.

As Jamezetta says below, there are two issues:

1 – Capital funding for the Arts Wing
2 – Changing the formula for teacher allocations. CHS gets the same
funding per student as the larger high schools. This means that fewer
courses can be offered and teachers carry a heavier teaching load (ex:
prepping for 4 different science classes instead of 2) and they often
must teach out of their areas of specialization.

This is the MOST IMPORTANT TIME to show up to support our school.

Hi Susana,

With all my email woes, I can't find the parent group for CHS and
equity. Please, will you let parents know that the Board of Education
is holding a public budget hearing this Thursday at Chapel HIll Town
Hall at 7:00 pm. This is another good opportunity for parents to let
the Board know that CHS needs to be completed, at least with an Arts
Wing, and that CHS due to smaller size needs additional teacher
allotment for equity to teach not only AP classes, but also other
elective offerings, to keep the drama/theater teacher full time, etc.

If you could forward this to the list serve, I'd appreciate it.
