Fellow CHS Alumni,

For those of you who are interested and would like news about me and my
family, here's my latest blog:

http://flfn.org/blog/brasto/2008-revisited

This will be the first time our newsletter reaches more than 100
people. We have had no spotlights the past couple months because
everyone's busy with the holidays, but I think you'll find we'll more
than make up for it this year. In this newsletter:

1. Facebook
2. 1989 Reunion
3. Proposal: Page(s) Dedicated to Our Departed Friends
4. A Small List Change

FACEBOOK

This mail list doubled in size the past few months, mainly because of
facebook.com . Probably 75% of you or more are already registered
there. When I first registered chsalumni.net, I had some very similar
goals, including a secure way to share your address and phone
information only with those you choose to share it with. Since Facebook
does this, I decided to save myself some work. I'll still put up
address information that only registered members can see, but not with
the level of one-to-one permissions Facebook can do. I have a new
pirate scope that I have not posted because it has some bugs, and I need
to add some security to it so it does not show information unless you've
explicitly given permission. In the mean time, let me recommend
Facebook to everyone not registered there yet. Those of you interested
in the 1989 reunion should especially join, because they are planning
the reunion there... which brings us to the next topic...

1989 REUNION

We have a few graduates from 1989 on this list. There are perhaps
others who knew some '89 graduates that might want to know about their
reunion. I'll keep people informed on the details occasionally via this
list. If you want to follow the reunion plans more closely, you'll have
to join Facebook and join the group called Cyprus 89' Reunion. I
volunteered to host a website for them for free, and gave them the
option to use CHSalumni.net as well. I have not heard back from Ryan
Foote about it. The reunion is currently planned for August 15th. They
plan to have a golf tournament early, and the main reunion later in the day.

PROPOSAL: PAGE(S) DEDICATED TO OUR DEPARTED FRIENDS

We have a growing number of friends that have left us. I want to
collect information about these people and dedicate either one page to
all of them, or a page to each of them. Among them:

Eric Barkley, who was always a true friend. When I lived in Utah County
and hadn't seen him for months or even years, he'd see me drive home to
visit my parents, and he'd come straight up every time to visit.

Ann Pearce. The first time I really noticed her and the typical
leadership I've seen in her family, I was at a cold youth activity. I
was freezing, and upset at some of the guys for some particularly harsh
teasing I'd received that day. It was one of her first activities. She
came and talked to me, showed me kindness, and made me feel much better
about the whole activity. I heard about her passing while I was still
on my mission.

Jason Van der Wekken. He was always fun to talk to. I worked with him
at Reams for a while, saw him at some church activities, and always
enjoyed his sense of humor.

Connie and Brandon Lowe. I was still in high school when Connie and
Brandon died together in a car accident. I spent quite a bit of time
with them and thier family before the accident. They were close
friends, and I still think of them.

There are more, I'm sure. There's more I'd like said about each of
these. I'll probably start with one page for all our departed friends,
and expand it into multiple pages over time. I'll probably want to make
sure the families they left behind agree to any content we post about them.

A SMALL LIST CHANGE

I've given Patti Casey Lingwall and Adrion Meyer rights to email this
list in preparation for our own 20 year reunion plans, which though
still far away, seem to be sneaking up on us rather quickly.
